Don't even ask how I found it, but somehow, I did. Remember our old friend Adam Shemansky? Well, he's now playing in the NCAA for the U. of Maine... http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=123528&encode=TRUE

I started out looking at Paul Kayiya's stats and found my way to the teams current roster, and the name jumped out at me. I wasn't sure if it was the same kid, but I saw where he was from and sure enough. Just thought it was funny he was the last person I would have thought about when I was researching Paul Kariya.

I somehow envision some manner of hobby debacle involving his own rookie cards at some point....

10 points so far - one for every one of his Ebay ID's in March of 2004.

lemme see if I remember:

listed a ton of stuff with 0 feedback and sent everyone a bunch of empty envelopes? took the cash and ran like hell?

Nah... that was avenens69.

Nah, he was into not completeing purchases and when he did there was quite a number of chargebacks as well.

Last known ID I have on my blocked bidders list I believe was umbergler20

Simply looking at the numbers, a few observations:

1. He's small, really small.
2. Passed over in the NHL Entry Draft twice
3. Looks like he's riding the coat tails of the Red Wings 2008 pick Gustav Nyquist.

I was looking at some of these as well - he will be 21 in a couple of months so most likely he will not get drafted. There was anther kid from Maine that went through the process however he was like twice the size - Dustin Penner.

I woulnd't say that he is riding the coat tails completely - he has a pretty good track record for scoring in Jr and High School so I would say that he probably has a good deal of skill and could make a career for himself in Europe.

We'll see - he's only a freshman and many a players have fallen after a good start and many have gone on to do some pretty decent things when everyone said they were too small - who knows.

ouch, not about me, but come on...5'7 isnt THAT short is it... :owned:

dont remember this particular fella since i joined in 06, but doesnt sound like he did too many good things in the hobby

Teams do take into account character before drafting. Maybe it's obvious that he's a douchebag or maybe there is actually a criminal record involved in his history which may scare teams away from drafting him.

Now THAT would be irony.

I remember this guy, which is funny because I haven't done much hobby related in more than a year or two. He was such a tool and caused a TON of grief to a good number of upstanding hobby members. I hope he never plays in the NHL.

Teams do take into account d-bagged-ness when drafting but if he had size and skill he would still get the call.

I am guessing it has more to do with his size - much like Ryan Duncan out of North Dakota who was a Hobbey Baker candidate but never drafted.

don't know the guy but he seems like quite a character.

It also seems like he's made it pretty far in his hockey career (notwithstanding whether he got drafted or not), as playing NCAA is a feat in itself.

Just wonder how a dedicated hockey player and a guy who worked hard enough to get into college has the time to scheme and rip so many people off.

Anyway, I hope my path never cross his. I do not want get ripped off

Sounds like an IE interview candidate. Start with a few nice lob ball questions about playing hockey then get in to the "How do you find time for school, hockey and theft" questions.
