Because Binnington was merely average in the SCF. He played great in games 5 and 7, but was poor in games 3 and 6. His stats on the whole in the playoffs were merely average, he wasn't even in the top five in GAA or SV %.

His stat line for the SCF was even lower than the playoffs overall. His GAA was about 2.77 and SV% of .912. Those aren't anywhere near Conn Smythe numbers.

OReilly scored in four straight games to close out the finals, and led the league in scoring in the playoffs.

In fact, I would have given Rask the nod for Conn Smythe over Binnington.

I have seen this so many times. People will regret the money they spent on Binnington cards. Not saying he's going to flop but the overrating is insane.

It's like Hammond 2.0 but at least he should play in the NHL longer. St-Louis plays a very efficient system and the quality of scoring chances against is among the lowest.
