Rome vs Stern

Rome goes too far on his radio show almost every day.

Nice to see the shoe on the other foot for a change.

For all those times he gave guys crap on his show for beating their wives, I say: People in glass houses...

Nothing like accusing Stern of committing a felony - and as such probably a crippling blow to a league if it were found to be true.

Jim Rome is among the blowhards who have managed to make a living by somehow developing a fan base using a tired schtick - but effective enough to get the hard-core listeners blood boiling one way or another... Colin Cowherd comes to mine, Chris Russo and Mike Francesa are others.

By the same token, Stern's response is someone whose ego has gotten too big for himself. Stern's general petulance doesn't come off well either.

I never liked Jim Rome. He is out to piss people off and I don't see any value in his work. IF i wanted trash TV I'd watch Fox TV 24/7

I used to listen to Rome all the time, now I rarely do. I'm not big on his schtick; however, in this situation he did nothing wrong. He was not disrespectful, like he said it's a question on the minds of a lot of fans. Stern's response was completely out of line. I find it interesting that the commissioner of a league that fines players and coaches for criticizing an official after a game would say this. The arrogance that Stern has shown in this instance, and many others, is horrible. He should be fined for that indefensible response.

Adrian Wojnarowski said it very well here:

No one dares tell Stern the ultimate truth that his ego, his vindictiveness, is an embarrassment to the league.

By flat out accusing him of committing a felony - rigging the lottery - that is completely disrespectul. Both parties acted like children during this interview - bottom line.

If he was respectful - there is a way to ask the same question diplomatically - What would you say about the perception that the public has that the Hornets got the first pick overall? It's not that hard - and Rome, when he wants to, can be a great interviewer - but he went into shock jock mode with that question.

It seems to me that that's how he asked the original question "there is the usual round of speculation that maybe the draft lottery was fixed" if anything it seems as though Rome is attempting to mock the conspiracy theorists that come out nearly every year. Agree to disagree then I guess.
