Pretty interesting, he deserves to be a #1 driver I suppose, I don't know whether he has the win ability to be that, but, BAR doesn't win many races.

Will be more interesting to see which guy gets the boot from BAR, Button or Sato, neither have lit it up and both have reasons to be elsewhere next year.

Gotta love the F1 silly season.

BAR-Honda have confirmed that Rubens Barrichello will join the Brackley-based squad in 2006.

The Brazilian, who has been strongly tipped to join the team following Ferrari's decision to hire Felipe Massa next year, has agreed to a "multi-year deal", according to the team.

"I am very excited to confirm that I will be joining BAR-Honda in 2006. I wish to thank everyone at Ferrari for six fantastic years," said Barrichello. "I have won many races with them and I am proud to have helped the team, to date, to win five Constructors' World Championships. However my target remains winning the Drivers' title and to achieve that I felt that I needed a renewed motivation."

BAR-Honda boss Nick Fry called the addition of Barrichello an "exciting milestone" in the team's history.

"Rubens is not only an excellent driver, but he has the experience of building a race and Championship winning team and these skills are very important as we work to take BAR-Honda to the next level," said Fry.

"The fact that we have developed so quickly to become an attractive proposition to drivers of Rubens' standing is a fantastic credit to the team. We are delighted that Rubens recognises our enormous potential and wishes to help us realise our dream in the not too distant future.

"I would also like to thank Ferrari for all of their cooperation in allowing Rubens to join us next year."

Barrichello, who had one more year left on his contract with Ferrari, gives BAR-Honda at least one experienced driver heading into next season.

Jenson Button's contract situation is currently in dispute, although an arbitration panel ruled last year that his rights are owned by Williams F1.

Takuma Sato's future with the Honda-backed team is also in doubt given his disappointing performance this season.
