Sabres acquire Scandella, Pominville from Minnesota

Hate losing Scandella, he was one of my favorites to watch. But good to see Pominville's contract go. I think this one looks good for both teams.

My son Connor is bummed (so am I) that Marco is leaving. We have become such good friends with him.

I know he'll do well this year with the Sabres.

Minnesota won this trade IMO.

Ennis is so dynamic and Foligno is a good role/depth player.

Pominville has trailed off a lot from where he was years ago though Scandella is a heckuva player.

I think this is a good trade for both sides.

We here in Buffalo definitely needed blue line help, so Scandella is a really great pickup from that perspective, and I think a lot more cost efficient than signing Shattenkirk (as we were rumored to be in on). Pominville returns after being a fan favorite, and I think he can still be somewhat productive, perhaps he gets a little extra ice time here? We will see.

Losing Ennis hurts, but I think he was stuck and struggling here and needed a change of scenery. I hope that he finds success in Minny, and revitalizes his career. Foligno is a solid depth guy, isn't afraid to play in any/all situations, and will throw down if necessary, still has a bit of a scoring touch. Foligno is also probably THE BEST player with the fans I've seen come through here. Always a smile on his face, always stopped, socialized, and joked around with you. Awesome individual

Ennis has some flashes of brilliance, but he also underperforms too often and really needs a change of scenery.

Pominville might be getting near the end, but he'll also be off the books in two years along with Matt Moulson, which should free up some money to get support for Eichel, Reinhart and the other youngsters.

Still wavering on whether to do season tickets this year, but at least Scandella should make the D a little less painful to watch.

Buffalo believes Ennis is pretty much shot. Change of scenery could help, but he hasn't been healthy for awhile now. Buffalo tried to move him last year and got crickets.

This move fills needs for both teams (top 4 D for Buffalo, Cap relief for Minny) Gorges and Kane are both off the books next year for Buffalo, and Moulson/Pommer are off the books in 2019. Pommer can still produce in the right role at least.
