I've seen 2 of these, both the same card from the 5-card Lindros subset. Are these the only ones that were made, or did the do all 5 as well as the Future Superstar? Just wondering. Thanks.
At least 3 of the Future Superstars have sold and for between $1200 and around $1750 each. There is a collector who is trying to corner the market, but he is in Canada and not Dallas.
check out the photobucket link I included above. The guy has 3 of everyone it seems. And money doesn't seem to be in short supply as he has a ferrari, corvette and lamborghini
5 of the Press Conference cards announcing his trade to the Flyers would have been very cool if they wanted to limit one of the cards.
I'm still of the opinion that Panini screwed this buyback up by limiting the card to 5 copies. 88 copies would have been fantastic and would have allowed collectors who wanted one to get one at a decent price. $2,000 for that card is idiotic and the guy hoarding them...well, good for him. They could also have spread the 88 cards throughout other products commemorating the 20th anniversary of that set or just insert the 88 copies in there. 88 Score Canadian, 88 Score American and 88 total of the bonus cards. 5 of the Press Conference cards announcing his trade to the Flyers would have been very cool if they wanted to limit one of the cards.
Then again, what do I know?
I say it's perfect that they only made five copies. Finally something that makes people buy boxes. Score is the only one of products where you can buy a 30$ box and hit a 2000$ card.
Have you hit one? Me neither. I'd rather buy a $40 box and pull a $250 card that I can realistically have.
In that case wich box did you pay 40$ and got a 250$ card?
The only box I can think of that's close to this price is OPC but how many 250$ cards are there in those boxes?
How many $2,000 cards are in THOSE boxes? We can go round and round like this all day (well, I guess you can) but my point (which you seem to be missing) is that while pulling a $2,000 card out of a $40 box is fantastic, it's only fantastic for the 10 people that pull it. If the cards were numbered to 88 each, my grade 3 math tells me that 176 people would be happy pulling a $250 card.
To give you an even further useless comparison, 10 people at $2,000 gives that card a $20,000 return on those cards whereas 176 people at $250 gives a $44,000 return on those cards. $44,000 seems like more value in a run of cards to me.
That's just me though, others may know better.
If there were 88 cards they wouldn't cost 250$ they would probably cost like a "normal" Lindros auto so somewhere around 30-50$(look at ended ebay auctions). There wouldn't be as many craving bidders.
