If a mod is around, can you fix the title to Howson?

@TheFourthPeriod
CBJ prez John Davidson: "This was a difficult decision but one that I thought was in the best interest of moving our hockey club forward."

Apparently, Craig Patrick(who is with the team already) is a strong candidate to be the new GM. Also, I wonder if/when Todd Richards gets fired.

Other names thrown around is Dave Taylor who worked with JD in St Louis. Jarmo Kekelainen from the Blues and previously from the Sens.

Dave Taylor claim that it's not him though.

New GM could be named by Wednesday. Not going to be Davidson himself as he still has complete control.

wow only a couple years to late. That purported deal during the draft that they turned down should have been the last straw
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...down-a-huge-deal-by-ny-islanders-during-draft

While that amount of draft picks would have been incredible to have, the Isles did end up with two pretty darn good D prospects at 4 and 34 (Griffin Reinhart and Ville Pokka). Heck, even Adam Pelech who they grabbed at 65 is not a bad D prospect. They ended up doing fine, and if you have that many picks in a year you can stock the cubbards but how many of them are going to get a chance at the big club and you end up losing them or trading them anyways? I like Ryan Murray, he played junior here locally in Everett, but at the end of the day Reinhart may actually end up being the better pick.

Apparently the 3 names mentioned are...

1)Jarmo Kekelainen (GM of Jokerit but has a NHL out clause. Former scout of the Blues I believe)
2)Ron Hextall (assistant in LA?)
3)Craig Patrick (Columbus)

Jarmo Kekelainen is getting a lot of hype. I would be interested in him. Credited to be the man who built St. Louis(Oshie,Schwartz,Backes, etc)

Dreger just dropped a bomb and said to consider John Ferguson. Could be worse then Howson. Don't think JD is that dumb.

I figure Columbus fans will see this as too little too late.

Zherdev, Filatov, Brule, Leclaire......all were high picks and all soft as cake. Granted they were not Howson's fault (or picks) but formed a previous pattern of dumb decisions. He just continued down the same road.

Ryan Johansen would likely be ruined as well at this rate. Hopefully he isn't.

Jeff Carter wanted to be here about as much as I want to cut a finger off with a spoon. Complete fail.

Rick Nash.....might be one of the few examples of where a fan base is actually rooting for a guy to get traded so he doesn't have to suffer anymore.

Howson sucked from day one and I couldn't be happier he's gone.

I think Jarmo would be a fantastic hire. He has the St. Louis connection with Davidson. Don't forget that before he went to the Blues he was with the Sens, and undoubtedly had his impact on some very solid draft picks for Ottawa during his tenure there.

And apparently, JD didn't want Jarmo to leave St. Louis when he left. I think Jarmo left, not to go back home but to become a GM. If the job was offered, I think he would leave his country to come to the NHL.

Also, Kings claim that the Blue Jackets hasn't asked for permission to speak to Hextall. Also, I mentioned Patrick but I think he is fine with being an advisor. All signs points to Jarmo.

Kekkalainen has an out of Jokerit for an NHL GM's job - and Davidson will likely stay with his St Louis connections somehow

I find Andy Strickland's tweet interesting...

Andy Strickland ‏@andystrickland

Jarmo Kekelainen and John Davidson have had conversations since taking over #CBJ....No brainer mover for JD

Andy Strickland ‏@andystrickland

For the record Jarmo Kekelainen had his eye on #CBJ GM job once it was evident Howson might be on thin ice last season

Kekalainen is an excellent hire, I thought he should have been tried as a GM years ago. Fantastic scout at least, he really built the Blues up to what they are today, I'll be closely folowing to see how he does as the head man.
