Hi,

I sent one card to Upper Deck redemption replacement center.

The card was 2021-22 The Cup The Basics Patch Autographs #TBCC Cole Caufield /25 (3-CLR Patch) (UD SV $250)

I got two cards from them which were:

2020/21 THE CUP CD#SP-TS (T. STUTZLE) SIGNATURE MATERIALS #/99 (UD SV $260)

2023/24 ARTIFACTS CD#SS-CC (C. CAUFIELD) SELECTION SOUVENIRS PATCH #/25 (UD SV $40)

They said I got extra value?

I got 300 USD worth of cards for a card valued at 1000 USD? At least I got two offers for over a thousand for the card before I noticed it was damaged.

Any opinions?

It is interesting how they value something vs the market valuing the same. A quick search online will see that another card of the original is at the asking price of $2200 usd, while the max asking for the Stutzle is around $630 usd, and the Artifacts Caufield (sold/completed) is near the UD avalue.

Definitely , you did not get the same value.

I asked them to send me top 5 sales for the Caufield card and sent proof of best offers for my card and their answer was:

"As mentioned, they take top 5 sales of a card and use the average."

"The fulfillment center does not use eBay as a pricing tool."

I could find only one sale for the Caufield which was 2-CLR patch @ 305 USD @ eBay. But as said they will use only top sales outside of eBay. But can't provide any proof from them.

This is no way to get more customers or keep current ones.

They should have let you keep the Caufield Basics patch auto and given you one of those 2 cards as compensation

I asked if I would send back these two cards and they would send me back my Caufield but they said: "The card I sent has been destroyed (we do not want cards recirculated, the card was damaged, reason you sent it in) the card has been shredded."

Hardly surprising as most of their employees know nothing of hockey anyway. If they have to be in the USA they should at least be in a state that knows it's hockey like Minnesota or Michigan.

Call them and argue. Present the sales data and ask them to make good.

I have no present sales data, found only one sold card over a year back, 2-CLR @305 USD on ebay. But they do not use Ebay sales.

Their head of redemption replacements has made the final decision, I got extra value here. :foottap:

Wow what a scam. If they don't use eBay sales data, then what sales data do they pretend to use? I'm confused.

That Caufield patch is one of the ugliest designs UD has ever done.

It actually sells for $1000?

Yes, it was an ugly card but I got two offers for over a thousand.

I only found one sold with a 2-CLR patch which was more valuable than the cards they sent me.

But as said case is closed, Upper Deck does not use eBay values, only top 5 sold values from somewhere. Did not get any other answer than this.

I won, they will not send anything else.
