Verified Trader,
Where did the summer go? Well it's not technically the end of the month, but not really expecting anything too exciting to arrive over the next few days, so figured I might as well do my monthly show n tell thread during the few minutes of free time I have while little Henrik is taking a nap
I'm ever so slowly making progress on the 08-09 Masterpieces brown set - down to 3 jersey cards and 11 autographs to go. Seems to be a popular set that other folks have also decided to take on relatively recently, so I'd imagine finding the last mostly SP'ed cards is going to be a real challenge, but the chase is what makes it exciting. My sole Masterpieces card for the month, one of the only non-SP cards I needed, Lucky Luc.
Another set that's nearing completion, I'm now up to 80 out of 88 cards from the 15-16 ITGU Vintage Memorabilia set... kicking myself for forgetting to bid on one of the cards from my wantlist, but at least I managed to pick up these two beauties to console me a bit.
I actually forgot to bid on this dual of Clapper and Stewart, but the winning bidder must have flaked out as it got relisted, I made sure not to miss it a second time!
And really happy to have landed this beauty for a pretty reasonable price, just one octo jersey card left to go!
Moving right along to my bread n butter Sedin PC, it's been a pretty slow summer, but at least have a few goodies to show...
Thanks to kmitchel for the tip that the jersey numbered Henrik gold opc platinum 33/50 was on comc.
I was worried when I saw a new Black Super Script parallel unveiled in this year's MVP, thought it might be tough to track down - but I actually scooped it up before landing the regular Super Scripts (and of course the darn Gold Scripts /100 will actually be the toughest as usual, still have yet to see either twin). Only Henrik was an SP high number, so thankfully I only had to find him - no Danny x/5.
A nice quirky pickup from 10-11 UD, interestingly they only made plates of Series 1 French that year, Danny was in Series 2 so I only have Henrik's to chase from this set, and being a French plate it is serial numbered "un de un" on the back
While the twins appear to have been signed with the old ITG, that does not seem to have continued into the Leaf era. I consider the Leaf stuff more of an Oddball item than a mainstream part of my PC since they can only use the dreaded generic jersey as an image placeholder, and I'm really not a fan of the rather ridiculous serial numbering on the rainbows that they have to put in every... single... product. Objections aside, still fun picking up some 1/1's for the Sedin PC - haven't seen the Canucks 8 jersey, but managed to scoop up the other two Sedin 1/1's in ITGU.
Only the first card below is new, but found it neat that I've been able to put together so many matching pairs of Sedin 1/1's from 13-14 Panini products.
Finally some Lord Stanley's Mug pickups. I busted some cases a while back but had them shipped direct to comc so I could list the bulk of them for sale, took a while before they were processed, so I only just got the handful that I wanted to keep shipped my way. I'm continually working on upgrading white jerseys to more interesting swatches...
Excluding 1/1's, all I'm missing for my master set are a few expired redemption cards - when Steel City broke my cases they didn't flip over the History cards on video, so I had no idea until comc processed them whether I hit any redemptions that I needed. Was excited to see that one of them was indeed on my want list, the Art Ross. This leaves me with just two to go - Gordie Howe and Steve Yzerman.
Love the Expo Exclusive decades set that ITG put out to go along with the release of Mug, there were 120 cards in the set with silver x/9's, and gold 1/1's. This is my 21st gold, love the Andreychuk stick piece!
It'd be easy to miss it if you're breaking and not too familiar with the product, but I was really pumped when I saw the Roy most wins by a goalie card pop out. The gold record cards are mostly x/9's, but there were two SP's that were 1/1 - the Middleton and the Roy (most wins - he's the only player with two cards in the subset). With St. Patrick now safely tucked away in the PC, I've completed the Cup Records gold set which I never thought would be possible!
Last but certainly not least, from my favourite subset in the whole product, my 46th Mega Patch (out of 110 produced) - not the finest of the bunch with no picture and a sleeve number rather than a Wings logo, but Mega Patches are getting tough to find so any time I can add one it's a happy day!
