Verified Trader,
This has probably been the quietest month in my entire collecting career, it's been nice to catch my breath and tidy the basement, almost have everything tucked away where it belongs. That said, there were still a handful of pretty nice pickups this month, and I've already got a bunch of incoming stuff in the mail for June, so the break won't last for long
On the non-Sedin front, just two pickups this month from my 14-15 Masterpieces master set quest - two Black autographs. The Hiller is x/15 while the Couture is x/5. Excluding a couple 1/1's and redemptions that will likely never be fulfilled, I'm down to 9 autographed cards, a PK Subban hand-painted portrait and a Bill Barber patch card for the master set!
On to the Sedin pickups ... a fun little oddball addition - almost every season one or both of the Sedins are featured on these promo cards for local Children's Hospital Jeans Day event.
Was doing a count the other day and realized I've got almost 200 printing plates - just counting UD and Panini (not to mention some old Pacific stuff that I have no idea whether they came out the front or back door). So while they're maybe not quite as special as they once were, a Cup printing plate is still pretty cool.
Took several months for me to acquire this one - seller started at a 100 OBO, I put in what I felt was a more than fair offer, which he countered with a 100 offer (uh, why bother even allowing offers if you're just going to counter the BIN price). Seller then jacked up the price to 200 perhaps thinking that would elicit a higher offer from me, but I just waited it out for almost half a year as the price gradually came down 10 bux at a time, until finally I landed it for pretty much my original offer.
If it wasn't for Dr. Price and President's Choice, that'd be all she wrote. But thankfully, there's a few more goodies.
Big shout out to gcychuen who gave me a heads up that the Hank was up on the PC website - goes nicely with the Danny that I already had!
A big thank you to M35Richter who grabbed this one from PC's table at the Expo and made sure it got into the right hands
I know the brother is in a good place in holygoalie's collection (for now... perhaps one day we'll chat about a deal)
And last but not least, the reason for the corny title. No, this is not a High Definition cardboard show... rather, when the Sedin nameplates showed up on the PC site I had to snap them up of course. Dr. Price emailed me to let me know that they mistakenly only produced the "Sedin" cards, but intended to make the first initials as well, and kindly offered me the first dibs to purchase them when available. They just arrived recently, and now I'm excited to show my nameplates, now in full HD
