Verified Trader,
Read on Twitter from GTS that LaFreniere will have a Young Gun in Series 1.
249 Pavel Francouz - Colorado Avalanche
Ok, this is interesting...

That’s a good looking card for the circumstances.
I agree. UD was in a super tough spot this year, glad they got a Lafreniere YG for Series 1.
Also, Upper Deck did this photo shoot with Lafreniere before he was even drafted by NY. Very cool.

I hope this is not the actual image they're using. I'd personally prefer a portrait shot over a staged action shot in a local rink.
We're in the middle of a situation where many things are not available, including NHL rinks. Where do you think the annual NHL Rookie Photo Shoot happens? In a full size NHL arena? Last year it was in the Caps practice facility, the year before in the Leafs facility. Before that it was in the former Maple Leaf Gardens, which is considerably smaller than what it used to be.
It's not ideal, but where else would there be a portrait shot without a draft site? From the living room in his house? I'm pretty sure they would have done a Draft Day photo if it was possible at the Bell Centre. Otherwise do you want to see a photoshop job like the 92-93 Eric Lindros card where they pasted his head onto someone else's body?
We're getting a Series 1 set with relatively minimal delay considering the start of the 2020-21 season doesn't look to happen probably for a few more months, despite the announced plans for January 1st. As a gate driven league, the NHL is loathe to start a season without fans, and given the current situation, that's not happening soon in many cities. So they're doing what they can to get a product out that pretty much everyone is waiting for.
Well said, Art. I know hockey collectors are known for complaining but to actually complain about a picture on a hockey card with everything that's going on today is absolutely ridiculous. I can't believe the number of posts I've seen on hobby boards about this. It's embarrassing.
Usually those that complain are those that will be asking ridiculous price once they have the card in hand!
Stay tuned.
