Looks like the NHL put the health of the players fans and staff ahead of how they will be perceived publicly. Something I fully support.

yeah i saw that today. postponed games thru the end of next week... so far.
the governor of the state i live in ordered all activities with 1000+ people involved cancelled, and senior centers to shut down activities, and nursing homes to cancel visitation. i get the stuff with the old folks, but man... it's the flu.

To say this is to clearly not understand it. 37x the mortality rate of the flu. People have been saying "yeah but the flu has killed x amount of people, corona has barely killed anyone". The common flu has been around forever. This thing has been around for less than two months in the US and is already doing damage, and spreading further and further by the day. Common flu symptoms are very noticeable; this one, not so much

Maybe the info i got was early on and i stopped paying close attention, but i recall it being said that this could kill elderly and individuals with compromised immune systems. Everyone else would have flu symptoms.

Yep that's 100% accurate. But this spreads significantly easier than the common flu, and can be in your system for several days without showing symptoms. You may not be in contact with elderly folks, but when you bump into someone who bumps into someone who does interact with them, now 1000 people have it. Even if the majority survive, a comparatively large portion will not.
