I think I'll have to give them a call. Pulled this today out of Upper Deck World of Sports. I apologise for the soccer nature of it, but figured it was a big enough story for here.

I've occasionally send back damaged cards and had them replaced, but nothing that I thought was call-worthy, until now.

The took a sticker of a former DC United player (Luciano Emilio) and stuck it on this guy's card. I'm a DC United fan, but you've got to be kidding me.

Beckham is card 61 in the set.

UD's website list Emilio (who is not in the base set) as 61 in the auto checklist.

The listed cards on ebay (active and ended) all have Emilio's auto on the card.

Hmmmmm....

I would not send it back until you know for sure what you are getting I saw the listing. you might be better off keeping it

I don't think the one that sold had mention of the error in the listing... most soccer autos sell really well, but I reckon the novelty of this error will wear off quickly.

That's pathetic by Upper Deck. To put it in perspective for hockey fans, this is like pulling a a Mario Lemieux autograph card that has a sticker auto instead of Michael Rupp.

I think there's one like this one ebay, what a hash UD made of this

The one I saw did mention it

however it depends what you want I'm guessing you would like a beckham auto, I would, maybe UD would make it worth while to get that card out of circulation

You're right, I didn't read down the listing far enough... that was the first one listed. I think there have been three since, and mine probably makes at least five out there.

That listing, as well as Upper Deck's checklist does make an error in noting Emilio as a member of the LA Galaxy, he last played in the MLS for DC United and currently plays his home country.

Still really strikes me funny that they would put Emilio on the auto checklist, yet he has no card in the set.

given the nature of the card, this may seem minute, but how about the shoddy placement of the auto? That angle is autrocious.

$325 for a card with the wrong auto on it. Does anyone really think UD is going to replace it with the correct auto? Hell no, they probably don't have Beckham autos and probably will never get them, and just decided to release the card with the wrong autos anyways. This pretty much sums up just how ridiculous this hobby (and whacko buyers) can be at times......

Unfortunately, there are many autos in this set that look this way. No shaded area as a guideline or anything, and I'm sure the workers were going for speed over accuracy.

Well, UD said the cards were released by mistake and replacement would be a "big" card, but "likely not" Beckham.

Hard to understand what they had intended in the first place...
