Just got an email from ebay with their new rates for 2005.

All I can say is

Taking 8% now instead of 5.25% on first $25, and 5% on $25-$1000 instead of 2.75%, 3% instead of 1.5% for $1000+.

Plus a new tiered Buy It Now pricing system. And many raised upgrade fees - like bold, gallery, featured and so on.

They did lower some fees, but nothing that will help card sellers out.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is true. For 3 years in a row, they gave a FREE listing day after Christmas. This year, it wasn't free anymore... it was $0.10 per listing. Way to give back to all of their loyal sellers worldwide.

Think you may want to re-read the increases - they appear to apply to Ebay stores, not general auctions. Anyone reading it that way.

The listing fees aren't for auctions are they? Looked like it was for store items. Only thing I see being affected by most of us are BIN fees.
I agree Chris, but who knows until they roll these new fees out in February. There may be some hidden fees that are in the fine print. Mike

****s to be a store then, since they raised the Store fee as well.

Still some of the optional feature fee increases will cost me more. Either way I'd still say this was not needed other then to increase profits. Need to go buy some ebay stock now.

tit seems to me that this affecting the dtores the biggest change is the BIn and the Gallery fees

The only way eBay can increase profits in a large scale, stock boosting way is to raise fees. They know that they cannot possibly increase membership at a huge rate anymore. Thus, the rate hikes. I'm surprised another auction site hasn't tried to go head to head with eBay and try to take some of the market share.

I charge $3 shipping, I seldom hear complaints. Everyone gets toploaders (often a couple if I think the card needs a little protection), team bags, and padded envelopes as well as a printed copy of the auction page and a little note from me. They pay $3 - they get $3 worth of service.

I think this is what any buyer on ebay is simply looking for from a seller.

Well they are just being greedy. As a sellers and a buyers this will affect me, will make less money when I sell, and probably will have to pay more for cards. It will be interesting to see how far they can push before some other auction site start to steal their bussinnes, I dont believe this will be anytime soon thought.
