The game was tied 2-2 after regulation and went to overtime where the Sabres promptly scored to end the Penguins season (obviously it wouldn't have been with the goalie pulled since they only needed the tie).
The consolation prize for such a heartbreaking loss and being one of the five teams that missed the playoffs? Drafting Jaromir Jagr with the 5th overall pick in that summer's draft and winning the next two Stanley Cups ... in retrospect, I'll take it.
