I know quite a few guys here are on the board (especially in the hockey card thread), but for those who haven't been on in a while or heard us talk about it, the boards are shutting down this month.

The shut down is, naturally, bringing about a lot of chatter about it being a cost-saving move, which is quite possible.

The talk, of course, also spreads to the Sports Picks line being shut down, which is a bit of hyperbole at least at this point; but on the other hand, there is that good ol' "where there's smoke there's fire" theory.

There's no question that the lines are far past their shelf time as the 'must-have' figurine. The serial number collector versions and random auto'd bases don't seem to have made the major impact one thought they may.

So if this is the first signal of SP's going the way of the SLU, then it's been a heck of a run; as long as my Andrew Ladd Jets fig is produced, I'm happy with the assortment I have :)

Jon, board is shutting down next Friday to be exact (October 14th 2011) Made many friends there over the years not only just you, and the guys on our hockey card thread, but a lot of local Toronto guys, and guys in California even have become good friends. It's been a blast, but I'm afraid you may be right about the end of the sportspick lines is near. I've changed my collecting habits a lot recently. I barely buy any new figures now. In the past, I tried to buy all the hockey ones available. This hobby has run it's course for me, and I'm assuming for many others, too. It's great to have places like HI to keep in touch with my old buds.
