Hi all- just got back to the Detroit area from Toronto a couple of hours ago and wanted to post about the Expo. As always, I want to start out by saying how nice it was to see friends that I've met at past expos and meeting new people as well. Special thanks to my good buddy Steven Singer for allowing me some space in his showcases and for brokering some deals for me while I was away! His son Jason and friend Russell was helping him out at the booth and it was a pleasure to hang out with them as well. I spent a lot of time with Amit and his buddy at their booth- Amit is one of the nicest guys you could ever hope to hang out with- simply a down to earth cool dude- thanks for the deal and for the great conversation! Ran into LSOH Eli- we worked a deal for a great baseball piece and got to shoot the **** for awhile- nice to see you again man! Got to spend some quality moments with our fearless leader Gomaz (Jeremy) and it was great to see you again and hang out. My across the border Windsor buddies No No the other Steve and Scooby Frank were in a new location for me at least but I got to hang out with them as well. Always great to see you guys! Crankshaft Rod was right across from the Windsor boys so was able to get on over across the aisle and check out some really amazing pieces and to catch up. Wes the pieman was there for a bit on Friday- great to see you again bud. There are others that I'm missing I'm sure or that I simply did not get over to see and I apologize for that. There wasn't all that much action at either UD's booth or ITG/Leaf at least while I was there- the wait time to crack boxes for the expo cards was miniscule. After the debacle with my lost/stolen BTP cards I had arranged to meet up with North of 7 at their booth at the expo to pick up 6 other cards that I had won on Ebay and to take a look at some others that they had found for me. It was a pleasure dealing with Daniel and I'm super excited about what I was able to bring home. I was able to find one other card for the project from a dealer who's business I believe was Off the Wall cards or something like that and I'll lead off the show and tell portion with that:

this Martin Brodeur Team Canada auto finishes the 8 card Team Canada auto subset for me and it is a beauty!

here are the cards I was able to come home with from North of 7:

every single one of those cards has a print run of 10 and the Gump emblem in particular is just filthy- at this point though even one color swatches are A-ok in my book!

all out of 10 again and especially excited to nab the DiPietro and The Cat- the Irving as well as for some reason I seem to lose out on his cards quite a bit.

once again these all have a print run of 10. Sawchuk and Brimsek were Ebay buys and man am I excited to have them.

Well there you have it- have to go update my project needs post now but very happy with this haul!

thanks for the read!

Hey Dave, was great to see you. Thanks for popping by the booth and hanging out. I am one of the few dealers that would rather sit down and have a chat than sell cards LOLOLOL..

I hope you come to visit your family again in November and pop by the office,.. errr I mean the expo. lolol

Great pickups! Some of those cards are amazing at /10. That Gump card does have a sick patch! Kinda partial to all the BTP sets! Good luck tracking more down!

Some great cards there old friend, digging Brodeur wearing that old retro jersey from the 2004 World Cup. Thanks for sharing as always and maybe one day we can link up again at one of those.

Wow, Dave that is awesome that you were able to land all of those rare cards in one weekend! Must give you some hope in your quest again.

Really nice additions Dave! Jealous of the Ranford Emblem (I don't have one yet.... but I've got two of the Numbers, lol. I don't think that's one you need - but if it is, LMK)

Great additions, as a fellow BTP collector I am very impressed by your progress. Are you doing any gold sets?

Also, what booth was North of 7?

thx for the compliments guys.

I'm not doing any of the gold sets- doing the silver sets are hard enough because there are a ton of cards with a print run of just 10. North of 7 was not set up under the North of 7 banner- it was like Hockey Connection or something like that in the 300 row towards where the customer entrance was.

Still feeling for Ya after that mail ficaso but you made up large at the Expo. Great haul Dave, Congrats

Great seeing you Dave. Always nice to shoot the poop with you during the weekend. Congrats on your pickups! See you again in November.

That Gumper is SWEET. On the Leland Irving, I can probably answer why you lose out on them. There is a collector in Everett, WA where he played for the Silvertips, I believe she was his billet family. It seems like she buys every copy of his lower print run cards that go up for auction, I know I went to auction battle with her a few times when he was playing here. I finally gave up as she would pay whatever it took to get certain cards, glad you were able to snag one for your set.

Dave - great pickups for your set, that's got to put a nice dent in things! I'm especially partial to that Brodeur auto - still need that and 4 others for my Team Canada PC, when you come across another one let me know :)
