Stars to Hire Pete Deboer as Head Coach

The Dallas Stars will reportedly hire Peter DeBoer as the team next head coach.

According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the Dallas Stars will reportedly hire Peter DeBoer as their next coach.

DeBoer has previously served as coach of Florida, New Jersey and San Jose before taking over in Vegas in 2020. He was left go in May after the Golden Knights missed the playoffs, finishing with a 98-50-12 record. DeBoer has made it to the Cup final twice as coach, coming in his first years with New Jersey (2012) and San Jose (2016).

DeBoer was one of the biggest coaches on the free agent market, and will take over from Rick Bowness who stepped down following the team's first-round loss to the Calgary Flames. The Detroit Red Wings, Winnipeg Jets and Boston Bruins are still looking for a coach.

I hate this hire. He is not a coach the Stars should get. He will continue the same trend as the past 4-5 coaches we have had. Miro and Oetter will suffer under him. As much as I hate to say this, Jim Nill needs to go.

How likely is the Nill firing going to happen? Not likely I don't think. Deboer will really have to stink up this upcoming year for that to happen. :foottap:

Well... I had heard that DeBoer was from the Detroit area and may go to Detroit. I do not know much about him but now I'm glad that Stevie Y. knows what's he's doing.

I’m not a huge fan either. But Miro & Oett will be fine. Look at the seasons Shea Theodore and Robin Lehner put up under his watch. I think guys like Guri , Dellandrea and Peterson will have a tough time contributing under a defensive style if that is what he plans on implementing.
