Statement From Upper Deck Re: Chronology Letters

People are looking to card companies to provide an escape. At $140 a shot, they might care (and should care). This is UDs best effort given the circumstances and I applaud them, but if the pandemic is playing havoc, they may want to scale back if it’s too much.

Frank said it best, don’t like it, don’t buy it. Series 1 has massive QA issues and people are still buying it. UD said it best at their summit years ago, “we can’t help your addiction”. There has to be a point where you all speak with your wallets.

Agreed with speaking with your wallets. But collectors will complain about a lot of things. All things considered this is a luxury, you should be prepared to burn your money at a casino or buying a box of cards .. Seems like a first world problem in its very nature.

In the grand scheme, this. Proximally, because they can't do anything about bigger issues, they're choosing to get upset over this.

Ya i know.. i know.. sad..

Casinos are closed.

Some people are in a position where cards aren't even on their radar. Those of us who are fortunate enough to afford this luxury should expect a quality product, shouldn't they? I think the inclusion of "people dying" in the argument is stretching to take responsibility away from UD. People are plopping down $140 (or whatever this costs) for an escape and are left frustrated. These letters are just lazy.

I know the push is to be positive in everything that is said and done, but that shouldn't be the sole responsibility of the collectors.

Not to be a homer, but you look over at Dr Price and he's bending over backwards to please his customers. Upper Deck should be doing the same, especially in this environment where people are spending their hard earned money on Young Guns with rounded corners and Lettermen inserts with Sesame Street letters.

In part, because he has to if he wants any piece of the hobby pie.

Whether a casino is open or closed is irrelevant to my point.
This is a luxury item and a gamble at best.
We can agree to disagree and leave it at that.

havent read every post on this matter more jsut skimming over, so I may be way off base....but casino in my area of Ontario has legally been open since october....and the pandemic shoudnt be an excuse for inferior work, at least it isnt at my place of work.

I agree that it’s a luxury and in this day and age of COVID not a big deal, however, it is the responsibility of a company to do their best in these tough times. You don’t expect to go to the store and buy a three light fixture for you house and be happy if 2 of the 3 lights work, just because it’s COVID. You might expect to pay more or wait longer, not get junk!

The hobby has grown by leaps and bounds since the pandemic due to closures (including casinos), so with all of this new money coming in and all sports (except hockey) growing at breakneck speed, you’d think that UD would want to put their best foot forward. So far UD1 has been a QA disaster and Chronology is becoming quite the effort as well.

Y’all should be demanding better.
