Hey all, long story short, I sold a Patrick Kane Ice RC (70/99) to someone on eBay. They filed a complaint that the condition did not match the description (which was not true) and eBay sided in their favour. I was instructed to send them money to ship back the card to me for a refund. Something went amiss and eBay refunded the buyer the full amount even though I sent them money to send back the card. They still have not mailed the card back after several months. If anyone sees this one pop up, it is mine and was essentially stolen (plus the additional money that was sent to this "buyer" to send back the card). I'm not sure if posting the eBay ID is against TOS, but PM me if you want to know who did this.

Stay safe,

eBay instructed you to forward the buyer finds for a return? Really? I have Never heard of that before. Did you contact them for the funds as the buyer never returned the card. Sure looks like eBay stole from you honestly

That's been a pain in itself. Due to me giving the buyer the benefit of the doubt (when contacted multiple times, they just told me they hadn't mailed the card back), I contacted eBay but it was after the 30 day period I had to appeal a claim against me. Now it's up to their management team to decide to refund me back or not.

I had something like this happen to me as well. The difference is that eBay wanted me to send them a pre-paid sticker to send the product back. I was very clear in the listing that any returns the buyer pays for. Luckily it was a cross-border sale and I could not send them a pre-paid anyhow. So the buyer ended up paying the shipping and I did get it back, and only then did I approve the return. Not sure why that was not the case here either.

It sounded like the pre-paid should have come up (after discussing with eBay after the fact) but throughout the entire process, I just received standard messages to "work it out with the buyer".

Did they officially file an item not as described case?

Yes.

Call ebay back. If they didn't send the item back and have no proof, they shouldn't have refunded the buyer.

Did the messages show up in your ebay messages or only on email? reason I ask is people send "spoof" email, emails that appear to be from ebay but arent. I have never heard of ebay telling a seller to send money first for the return postage.

That is some crap. The vast majority of Ebay buyers and sellers are honest. I just had something returned (my first time selling). Buyer cotacted and asked if he could return an item because he didn't read the description well enough and it wasn't what he wanted. I had buyer pays return shipping- case was initiated and Ebay said I could refund immediately or wait untill the tracked return arrived. Package came in a couple of days later and I completed the return. But it all hinges on honesty. What if the seller just sent me an empty package and claimed it was "returned". I probably wouldn't have much recourse with Ebay. Incidents like the OPs make me nervous to sell anything valuable unless it is to high feedabck purchasers.

Unfortunately the hobby world is full of dishonesty... I absolutely hope you get the card back, and as we all know Fee-bay is unfortunately a crap shoot... cheers! Paul!!!
