Hello all,

Hopefully this will be seen by someone that knows the person (or is the person) with whom these cards belong to.

A friend of mine who works in the news industry forwarded me a press release from the Calgary Police. It states:

The Calgary Police Service would like to return a large quantity of
collectable sports trading cards, that were allegedly stolen, to their
rightful owner.

A collection of over 3,000 cards, worth thousands of dollars, was
recovered near the Elbow River by a City of Calgary employee and turned
in to police.

Calgary Police ask that anyone who may have information about this
incident, or the owner of these cards, to contact Cst.
Stu Simpson at 403-567-6200.

Cst. Simpson will be available for media inquiries at 1 p.m.
today, Friday, Oct. 24, 2008, at the District 2 office, 4506
17 Ave. S.W.

The cards will be available for media to view during that time.

I don't have any other info than this, but if someone has a question, I can see what my friend can find out.

Thanks,
Brett

Could this be some of Julie's items that were stolen?

Not according to the phone call I received from the Police.

Boxes of single cards, primarily baseball, from the early to late to late '90s.

Guess the crooks discovered their prized loot was actually junk and tried to dump them in the Elbow river...

I agree with Darren. When I saw the newscast on this that is what came to mind. The thieves probably tried to pawn them and had no luck doing so. I still feel bad for whoever's cards those were. Regardless of value, someone is missing something that was important, maybe sentimental to them.
