Merry Christmas to all,

For those that store vintage cards in binders, do you feel Ultra Pro Platinum pages are worthy for long term storage? Is there any advantage to using a penny sleeve before sticking them into the pockets? Obviously if the binders are thrown out the window into the yard they'll suffer damage but in terms of regular storage without any crazy circumstances is there any reason these pages wouldn't safely protect the color/surface of the cards?

My thinking is the Platinum SHOULD be suitable, but now I'm wondering. Cards will not be exposed to direct light, moisture, etc. They're being stored vertically on shelves.

Any thoughts?

Thanks to anyone who replies. Happy, and healthy, holidays to all.

That is how I store most of mine. Of course mine are vintage non sport. But a 1958 Parkhust hockey card used the same paper as a 1958 Parkhurst non sport card. For me it is easier to go and check my singles if someone needs or wants a card. Plus there is no more handling of the cards. But in cases where you have many expensive cards I may not do that.

All my sets are in binders (D-rings only). My vintage sets (only a couple of them from the 80s) are in the ultra pro pages with the flaps to keep the dust out.

Another question for you binder folks. Does anyone know of a good way to keep the pages tight together/flat and straight when you stand the binders up? The pages want to fan out a bit once you stand the binder up. I'd like to figure out a way to keep the pages straight upright and snug together if possible. Anyone have any bright ideas?

Also wouldn't mind finding rigid plastic divider pages. Basically picture just a rigid piece of non-transparant plastic with 3 holes to use as a cover page and set divider within the albums if anyone knows where I could find something like that?

I don't have any issues with my pages (yet). D-Ring binders, usually 3", filled with as many pages as can snugly fit (600-700 cards maybe). A little tip I learned from a guy on youtube is to fill the gap with old becketts if you can't or don't want to fill up that binder. Helps keeps it flat and straight.
Also when you grab the binder to put away (assuming standing up) grab the binder the the spine and slide it into place. That way the cover doesn't slide back, which in turn moves the top pages.
As for the cover pages. I was thinking about using these for mine. I know its a 2 pocket/page.

I know it has 2 pockets but for me I was thinking about using it for checklists or set information.

Hope that helps.

I have sets going back to '68 in binders and have had no issues, cards up to 2k value. I use the Ultimate Guard 16 wide binders.
