Ray Sefo??? For real? Dude better come in and right hook the **** outta some *****es.

Hopefully this tourney will give Strikeforce some direction with its heavyweight division cause that thing's a piece of driftwood floating in the sea if nothing else.

dana white has yet to comment on this tournament. if anything, zuffa better get their act together. the HW division in the UFC is WEAK. how can you have one HW champ after the other go down due to injuries? at least JDS will now get a shot at an interim title

The difference between the UFC and Strikeforce's heavyweight division is that UFC has a bit of depth...you don't see the same fighters month in, month out. When I look across that roster of Strikeforce...that's basically their WHOLE division minus Bobby Lashley, plus they had to sign 3 fighters and "promote" Del Rosario and Lavar Johnson (a fight which has KTFO written all over it) just to fill the roster.

I don't think Zuffa has anything to worry about to be honest...this event really isn't going to put Strikeforce on the map as a heavyweight hotspot in MMA...it'll focus a few more eyes on the promotion, but until they land someone like Brock or Randy to bring the fanfare over with them, this is far from a Monday Night Wars part 2 scenario.

There is a reason why a lot of people think that Strikeforce is a joke. I'm not one of those people; however, in this case any and all ridicule, and criticism is completely warranted. Allistiar Overeem has been the champion of Strikeforce since November of 2007, he has fought for, and defended that title a grand total of one time. And when this news was first released, Overeeem's management were contacted and they had heard nothing about a tournament.

Now there are no title fights. Scott Coker lied in saying that the issues were with the regulators. Josh Gross talked to the state regulators involved and none of them had issues with making all fights be five rounds. Strikeforce didn't want to do it, even though that's what the fans wanted.

All of this smacks of desperation, and is already coming off as a poorly planned and amateurish.

What happens if Overeem wins the "Grand Prix"? Does he become the number one contender and fight himself? The "Grand Prix" is now completely meaningless.
