Hey guys,

This is baseball and football but I now some folks on here can appreciate this purchase. I couldn't believe it when I saw these cards.

I bought them all and a bunch of other cards for $200!!!

They are all in really nice shape.

I am going to get them all PSA graded before I decide what to do with them. Do any shops / people on here deal regularly with PSA that might be able to help me out? Possibly submitting them with some other cards?

Sweet Jesus!! You did good! Really good. That Ryan alone should cover the costs of buying them and getting them graded. WOW! Congrats

Isn’t that Ryan worth a couple K? Never mind the Payton, Bench and Erving.

Not anymore...Ryan RC's can be had in decent enough shape for $350-500. I bought mine over 20 years ago for $425 & it graded out a 6 by BGS.

But at the risk of being a party pooper, and keep in mind I'm no expert, I'm not liking the looks of the Ryan, Payton or the Clemens RC's. I would most DEFINITELY ask around for other opinions on those specifically, before sending them in to PSA. They're much too dark & almost (from what I see) have a slight tent of gloss to them or look way too blurry. Again, I can only go off of what I see, and I'm NOT saying that they are fake, I'm simply saying that based on what I see, what I have seen in the past on those cards, and knowing the hobby's history of forgeries for those cards....I simply don't like what I see.

But if you send them off to PSA and they come back authentic with great grades, then I will most happily stand 100% corrected & eat crow. Best of luck.

Yeah, there is a risk that they are not real, but for the price it was definitely worth the risk. I don't know enough about baseball to know the tell-tale signs. However, PSA should be able to settle the real / fake question easily enough.

I'm late to the party, but that Clemens doesn't look good and that would make me wonder about the whole lot.

Your Clemens looks like it is to the dimensions of what a card should be, but check the borders...they're almost non existent. Check the borders on this one...

Hopefully some come back as legit, but I think you got ripped off on this deal.

Thanks for the input. I didn't get ripped off because there is a stack of other stuff that makes up for what I paid for the lot. Worse case scenario, I break even. I did have them looked at by a local card shop owner and after looking at them carefully he said they didn't show any "classic" signs of being fake. For example, black lines across the cards looked solid across rather than dotted. Anyway, we will know soon enough. They have been sent to PSA.

I'm really interested in seeing the grades you receive. By now you have probably sent them for grading, but it probably would have best to send one or two of them in the event they aren't real. Not only are they some of the most counterfeited cards from 20 years ago but they are coming from a single seller at a tremendous discount. A lot of red flags here.

Yes, a couple of a time probably would have been best. Although, I could not live without knowing for sure about each card. It would have just bugged me. So they all went in together.

They did come from the same collector, but it was some guys x-girlfriend that was the seller. He also was into comic books and Magic the Gathering - point is that he dropped a lot of money on his hobbies. Perhaps he purchased them himself thinking they were real - who really know. The odds are not in my favor, but I am still holding out a little hope. Even though it may be faint.
