Well, I have this HUGE wad of cash burning a hole in my pocket so I went to my area card stores. I say "stores" because in the past year that I was away from New England, three of the extremely local stores have closed. One I knew because he told me he was retiring. The other two I have no idea about. I just know that one has a kitchen design center in it and the other is vacant. So I looked up an old friend from about 15 years ago and went to his store. It is thriving by the way. Probably helps with the Pokemon, Yugioh, and Magic. Anyway, I picked up some noticably missing singles of Thornton (base and parallels) and a gazillion packs. Sorry, no scans right now. If I can ever find the USB cable I might be able to start posting the "good stuff" that we all like to see.
I picked up three packs of 03-04 UD Ice just so I can say that I ripped some. I got what I expected, all base, though the Raycroft was nice for my nephew. Next, was four packs of 04-05 UD series 1. Got a Hardware Heroes Iginla, Nash, Kovalchuk and a School of Hard Knocks Bertuzzi and some assorted Worlds Best. I thought those were retail only? I grabbed one pack of 04-05 Legendary Signatures and was shocked at the $23.50 price tag. Did I mention my friend wasn't there? All I got from that was a Miracle Men Ken Morrow Auto. I also snagged a couple of packs of 03-04 SP Authentic and pulled a 10th Anniversary Marian Hossa xx/1994 and a SOTT Jari KurriGONE.
I asked earlier about box prices on 04-05 Legendary (Legends) Classics and , well, Baseball Cards of Rhode Island only had 17 packs left. I don't think I did terribly bad for the $82 on those packs. A few doubles on the base but not awful. I managed to get the two base cards I wanted (Cusick and Sanderson) and I was not disappointed with this set. I might do a whole box next time. The highlights (I think I beat the odds) were a Dave Shultz auto (Chris, are you still collecting Flyers?) a Lorne Worsley Auto (a very odd looking auto, I wish I had a scan. Tiny writing.) and some semi-mojo with the Signature Moments auto of a Mr. Cam Neely 11/125GONE (is this reserved for Dave?) and finally, for the MOJO with all capital letters and let me stress that this is MOJO in the most MOJO of meanings of MOJO. I wish I had a scan to show. In my third pack (first pack was the Shultz) was a redemption for a Jersey. A Jacques Plante jersey.GONE Oh, yeah, I am stoked.
Question though: is this a vintage styled jersey or an actual vintage jersey?
