As many of you already now, we (Stadium Sports Cards) bring in 05/06 products on a regular basis so our customers have a chance at a Crosby RC.

Recently, I picked up some 06/07 SP Authentic which as most know, features all the 06/07 RC's (Malkin, etc...) plus you have the leftover (aka - 2nd wave) 05/06 (so a chance at a Crosby)!!!!!

Well this was pulled!!!!



The customer's 8 year old son pulled it and was thrilled - A Crosby Sign of the Times redemption!!!!

unfortunately - expired!!!!!

The Crosby that got away........

I'm going to try and reach out for him. I feel bad as they were hoping to pull a Crosby and then did!!! The little fellow was so stoked (as was the dad).

There is nothing more enjoyable in this hobby than seeing parents and kids getting involved and enjoying collecting!

I know it is the risk you take buying older products that will no doubt have expired redemptions but it's not like the manufacturers don't have any Crosby auto's lying around - look at the Crosby's that they give some people for replacements for some scrub that then they can't fulfill.....

From the hobby business stand-point, this is exactly the type of recruitment we all want (manufacturer and LCS's) so I am certainly hoping something or someone can be done for the young fellow - I know UD has done some very classy things in the past.

Best of luck on this Scottie. We had a bunch of expired from Trilogy including a Crosby auto and was told too bad soooo sad.
I told them to just make a peace offering to make them look great in the eyes of the collector. Again was told noooooo.
I know Mick can be very persuasive at times LOL, so I hope he gets something!!!

The unfortunate risks of opening old product. I doubt UD will do anything as I have had a few expired redemptions in the past and ended up with nothing for them.
 
Why would a big company like UD not do something for this person. You want people to buy your old inventory and UD was the one who couldn't get the card live into their product. They might not have that card but give the kid something. Just a preview of the UD exclusive. I have redeemed so many expired codes with Panini and never been turned away. They will be missed.

Good luck Scott, I hope UD listens to you and does something for them.
 
Yep. good luck with that. Can you imagine with this year's SPA Mackinnon being all Redemptions! Do not buy this product after May 2016 local shops!
With this new Exclusive license, they should not expired redemptions...never!
 
Wouldn't it only make sense to produce enough cards to cover all the redemptions they place in their products? That way nothing like this ever happens.
 
What does UD do with all the unredeem cards sitting in their warehouse when the expiry goes? UD should just send the card out instead of leaving bad taste in customer's mouth.
 
A real shame, especially for the kid. UD is tough as nails when it comes to expired redemptions, I pulled a Carter/Thornton dual auto redemption out of 05/06 UD update and they did nothing about it. As much as I feel that Panini flooded the market with way too many cards this year, I will miss their wonderful customer service.

they put it in future releases as bonus "update" or "buyback" cards of course!:curse:whats really frustrating is when you do pull a redemption and it takes longer to receive than the expiration date printed on the card!if i can wait 2-3 years for a redemption you should damn well be considerate enough to redeem an expired redemption by a few months!
 
They told me that even though those cards may have been made, they have given them out to cover non-made redemptions. I said then send something just to make UD look good........but nothing!!!!
 
Expiration dates on a redemption card are as lame as an expiry date on a gift certificate. UD has been sending free cards to people welcoming them back or to help them complete their PC. It would impress me to no end if UD came through for this little fella.

Scott, can I mail some cards to you to pass on to Logan? It might not be the Crosby he wanted but I'd like to send him some cards to add to his collection.
