So I go into Best Buy today after being told that the new DVD comes with an exclusive figure. The pics I saw showed Batman and then the Joker. I get there and there's a CHEESY clown head thing in the box with the DVD and another with the Batcycle or whatever that thing was. I opted for the 2 disc special edition with the free nothing.

Another thing, I like having my DVDs displayed with the movie title running in the same direction. Why couldn't they make one side in French and the other in English so we could choose? It looks crap with both on one side. I know, I'm just being picky.

With so many versions out there, which one did you get?

I'll be picking up the 2 disc version this weekend at the Flea Market. $20.00 taxes in..

I am 5 hours a way from anyone who carries it. I will probably buy it from chapters if its available as I am making a big TP and HC order tonight YEAH!!

I have "Wanted" rented for tonight, can't wait to watch it.

I picked up the double disk with the digital version for the laptop. Watched it on and off at work today..lol I own my own business so I'm allowed to slack..:D

I was probably one of the only people under-impressed with Ledger's performance, but this is a definite buy for me later today after work.

Not to poo poo on it, but I've heard that the picture quality is not up to par on the standard-def DVDs. This is sort of a pattern with Warner Bros when they release Blu-Ray and SD at the same time. So those of you who are "into" home theater or have big displays but no Blu-Ray, be warned! :)

how many editions are there? i heard there's a special edition where it comes with the batpod

The one at Target, where I got mine, came with a batman mask and a batman mask-shaped case. I'd imagine there are a couple of "store exclusive" special editions.

are these masks like the iron-man special edition dvd? if so that might be pretty cool

Not sure what the Ironman ones were, but these look like flimsy little masks, complete with bat-ears. Wasn't my cup of tea, so I went with the regular version.

On the radio they said there were 12 different versions, there are probably a few excliusive ones for certain shops. I will probably go with the regular version.

The versions at Best Buy were:

Regular 1-disc
Special Edition 2-disc
SE with Batman "cowl" mini-mask
SE with Clown mini-mask
SE with Batcycle
Some Deluxe version that had the Joker money, some "exclusive" lenticular stuff, and a few other extra things.

Not sure of all the prices, but the Deluxe one was $39.99.

I got it on blue ray special edition (only Blue Ray available).

Personally I am not a fan of Bale as Batman. Not sure why, just not my cup of tea.

Ledger was very good, its too bad he won't be around for a second showing. I liked the Chaos Ledger's Joker brought. It was pretty intense. I just hope they do not try to replace him. Sadly the Joker character died, even though not literally in the film.

However not unlike Spiderman I hate how they bring in the classic super villains (in this case Harvey Dent, much like Venom), and kill them off in record time.

Seriously Venom and Two Face are classic characters, and deserve a little more play time then 30 minutes.

Venom isn't dead.....

Comic characters are like people on the daytime soaps, they never die haha.

If it was by design, then Bob Kane was a bloody genius, but creating Arkham Asylum was brilliant for the rogue's gallery because you don't need to kill anyone off, which is why losing Two Face surprised me. Ledger's death doesn't mean the end of The Joker. I expect to see an Arkham Asylum scene in the next movie with a silhouette of The Joker, a laugh and a "Why So Serious" or something dramatic fired at Batman. He won't (read: shouldn't) be in another main character arc for a second time.
