I agree with greg on this one. Even look outside of hockey to the Brett Favre situation. Although I respect Favre and the NHL greats mentioned above, and though it may be their career as another poster said, the NHL doesn't revolve around them, and when you decide, like Selanne and Niedermayer did last season to all of a sudden return to the team, half-way through, I don't think that is fair to the team. It messes with team chemistry and sets a bad example. Brian Burke was wise to give Niedermayer an ultimatum, I'm not sure why he didn't give Selanne one. The Sundin situation is ridiculous too. He was supposed to have decided by August 1st, but well so far we've heard nothing.
