The hobby; Strictly collecting or social aspect as well

Just wondering what everyone's reason for collecting is. I started out in online trading just to better my collection, as time has gone by I find that I enjoy the social aspect as much or more then the actual collecting. I have forged a lot of friendships here , a few are very solid. I look forward to the Expo each Spring/Fall to meet up with people I have met through collecting. I guess in the end its the cards that we have in common but I enjoy the comraderie a great deal. Lets hear your thoughts on this subject.

Basically the same deal for me D, not just the online stuff, but the shops I go to as well. Spend just as much time yakking with the people there as I do worrying about cards. lol. Even ones I've never been to before, I end up talking to everyone quite a bit.
Some day too, I'd like to get to an Expo just to see what it is actually like.

I've always been an autograph hound. Lost the love for trading cards (thanks to that price guide), but still love autographs.

I just like holding a little piece of Football history. Plus they taste great. I seem to have passed on the collecting gene to my son, he has a huge collection of Yu-Gi-Oh! Plus, I do like the community of collectors for the most part, quite the variety of people here. It varies from Students, military members to computer geniuses.

For me it's about collecting and increasing my PC, but in doing so I have become close "internet" friends with MANY of the people I've traded with.

I've "met" some great people through the Hobby. "Talking" to them online and in some cases boring them goes some way towards compensating for not being able to do it in the flesh.
I enjoy the social aspect just as much as receiving cards in the mail. I like the whole community aspect.

More social now than collecting. Made some friends, pissed off some....all in good fun.
