We're a mere two periods into the season and Joel Farabee is off to a 3 point start...and his cards are getting snatched at a rapid rate on eBay.

Effing crazy.

If Nick Suzuki gets another point, curious what happens there. Although his opening price point is many, many times higher than Farabee's.

I need Jonathan Drouin to have a 4 point game so I can dump his cards! ;)

People are playing a very dangerous game with this sort of collecting/"investing". By the time they get their $30 Farabee YG to flip, they're probably going to lose their selling window. These cards aren't stocks, but people are using stock lingo for cards, like "bullish", "long", "shorting", etc. Trading/flipping the hot item of the day isn't going to be a quick click of a button, unless you're re-listing immediately on COMC.

To join in on the lingo trend, a lot of people are going to be left "holding the bag". Unless they actually have no intention of following through with the purchases of course, which is a whole other problem.

I sold 8 Josh Anderson’s young guns in 2 hours, that have sat around for years.

Congrats!

I was following a few players on eBay last night, and Anderson and Farabee were the two guys who saw a depleted inventory. People listing in real time were selling instantly. Anderson's YG spiked at $40 US! The inventory is being refilled today, but with asking prices of 28-35.

Not sure who these buyers are, but as many have said, they are playing a game where heavy losses feel inevitable.

I don't know how much risk there could be doing this buying and selling on COMC since payment and possession/ownership(virtual) are instant. Ebay for sure is setting yourself up to fail since a buyer can return something days/weeks/months later for just about any reason.

Before the Philly game started I was buying up a particular Farabee rc for .10-.20 cents each. I relisted a couple after the game for $2.25 each and they sold right away. I kept the others since I got them for so cheap. I've done that with a few potential breakout players, but sticking to cards under a $1 for the most part, and always doing market and profile research beforehand. I guess my personal version of penny stocks.

This is exactly the environment that COMC was designed for, whether intentional or not. Their platform should be a hotbed of activity for this silly speculating.

Until sportscardheaven buys them all up, that is.

I agree totally on COMC. It is how sports cards can be a "play" like day trading the stock market if someone wishes to do so. Whether they did see it coming or not, they have created a market for liquidity with a "commodity" that has been historically illiquid.

Full disclosure, I am an investor within the stock market (passive investor) as well as Private Equity Real Estate and my financial background and experience does not allow me to speak positively about day trading in the stock market. I will watch with great interest in day trading sports cards but will gladly sit on the sidelines to watch what plays out.

Konecny took a spike after his 2nd goal, YG's just about doubled in price on COMC instantly. I was not a buyer or seller, too rich for my blood.

I've had a FWA auto of his listed on eBay for months. Never got a single offer. Someone hit the BIN on Friday.... Forst thing I did was look at the box score, and smiled.

This season could be crazy.
