Has anybody dealt with The Spirit Of The Game/Rich Ellis before? I'm looking at purchasing a jersey that has a LOA from this outfit and was wondering if anybody can comment on there authentication services or reputability. The jersey is from the 1991 All Star Game in Chicago so if anyone also has any info on these jerseys as well that would be awesome. Thanks in advance!

he was once very well respected. However, he his reputation is now shot so proceed with caution because who knows how he was operating back then although at the time he was well respected. He used to consign shirts and sell on his site and then when shirts sold he would pocket money and not tell consignor it was sold and keep shirt for sale on his site. I know.....I bought a couple of shirts from him and they are still for sale LOL and that was years ago. He has been banned from gameworn forum as well.

Thanks, your not getting Milt from Byron's Hockeyland and Spirit Of The Game mixed up though, are you? I thought I remember hearing a similar story with Byron's Hockeyland. If not, my apologies.

To clarify, I'm not buying the jersey from The Spirit of the Game. The jersey originally was purchased from them and comes with there LOA and now I am looking at it. I'm wondering about the authenticity of it as the jersey is from an all star game and the laundry tag has a lot of wash wear which isn't the case with other jerseys from the 1991 Chicago ASG that have been sold in the past. I may just pass on it for that reason. For what it's worth, the jersey is a Theo Fleury and if anyone wants to check it out they still have pics on their site.

I am not confusing the 2. Similar falls from grace. Because of what he has done, there is no comfort in an LOA. Do your research.

Thanks for clarifying. I was not asking about Spirit of the Games selling practices as I'm not dealing with them, but quality of authentication. I have done my research and am questioning their authentication, which is why I posted here to see if anyone has had similar experiences. Based on your replies it's fair to say it was a shady business but as to if the person was any good at telling a true gamer from a fake, I haven't heard anything about that yet. Thanks again for the advice.
