I figured I'd make a special thread just because of today's pickups. I think for the first time ever, I came home with "cards" in four different sizes. I picked up some singles and also busted 2 "vintage" boxes. Here are the results.

First up, Donruss Priority. The hobby box comes with 15 or 25 packs... 15 I think. 7 of one, 8 of the other. By that I mean they have regular packs and then "big" packs that have these huge postcard things in them. Number one problem with these are that almost every one of the postcards are damaged! Mainly corner damage as can be expected. Now, I didn't keep it, but the box they come in was shaped like a mailbox, with a little flag and everything. To open the box, you break out the perforation on one side and a flap like a real mailbox opens up. Its pretty crazy.

The small packs come with these stamp cards. I pulled a parallel, the Tkachuk but I am not sure if it is bronze or gold. I also pulled a limited Chelios parallel of the postcard, limited to 1000. I tried to figure out how to use the "gimmick" of the stamp card and the postcard with a Jagr set but maybe I'm just not understanding. They do not come with instructions, just the stamp card says "match this with the postcard" and that's it.

So that starts off with the first two sizes. The stamp cards are normal sized, The post cards are obviously a lot bigger. Unfortunately the Chelios is the only one I have in top-loader, as there was no more at the shop. In this scan you can see what the regular post-card looks like. As well as a couple autos.

Next up we can see Size #3. 97-98 Pinnacle, or what is known as the "New Pinnacle" in baseball. This Vanbiesbrouck looks very cool in a large format. Unfortunately, the big versions of these are a lot more damaged than the Priority ones. For example, I got a Lindros that had what looked like packing damage. The edges are all screwed up, but I suppose it could have been done by the cutting process.

I must apologize now! We are dealing with 5 sizes! My mistake! In this you can see I got 2 Rink Collection, nothing special and a Khabby Artist Proof. Size #4 is represented by Champs. These little guys are pretty cool. I got offered a free "Lake Erie Water Snake" but turned it down. Size #5 is actually not even a card. The Panini hockey stickers are slightly smaller than regular cards, and here is one example. I ended up getting 4 stickers and the book but I won't be using the book.

Everything is available except the current Coyotes cards and Stefan Meyer I think. Here are a list of the large items.

Donruss Priority post cards (not scanned, none mint):
Bryan Berard
Mark Messier
Pavel Bure
Felix Potvin
Steve Yzerman
Chris Chelios
Joe Thornton
Jarome Iginla
Patrick Roy

Large Pinnacle * means in top-loader
Steve Yzerman *
Brendan Shanahan *
Mark Messier *
Sergei Fedorov *
Keith Tkachuk (damaged)
Peter Forsberg
Jaromir Jagr
Pavel Bure
John Leclair
Eric Lindros (damaged)
Mats Sundin

Also, all the large Pinnacle cards are "warped" looking, similar to how Topps and Bowman Chrome cards can be. The postcards are pretty much flat.

Enjoy!

On those "postcards" there are little slits cut into the top right corner, bottom right corner and so on which the card stamp card fits into ...wow that was along time ago.
