A rare sunday visit to the CLB Flea Market here in St John's with the usual suspects Geoff(Ironman Indy), Dean (bto3105) and Harry (Knuckles) plus a score of other card fiends to scope out the latest wares of various card vendors namely Carter. I got there a little late as I was caught up in a Seinfeld episode but I'll digress til later. Dean asked if I'd seen the Mike Bossy card that someone had available so I scanned the table but was disappointed not to find anyone that resembled the Long Island Hall of Fame sniper. Then Geoff joked that I'd had better pick up my mandatory pack of base Parkhurst as there was only one left. I've been searching unsuccessfully for the latest Parkhurst Bossy auto parallel of the base card for ages now and its become a running joke if not my white whale. Finally Geoff hands me what I think is an unopened pack of said mandatory Parkhurst only to discover it already opened. Let the disappointment begin. First card: Clark Gilles base card. Well at least its an Islander I say. 2nd card: Ron Francis..hmm Geoff must of planted this one as Ronnie Franchise is his favourite player and then it appeared...NO not the auto'd Bossy card! Something even rarer and cooler I might add. A Parkhurst Masterpieces painting of the Bossman himself hand signed by the artist and marked 4/10!!! I actually witnessed Geoff bust this card late last year at our saturday pilgrimage to Maverick Sports and Collectables on Water St. At the time I thought he should deal it for some proper Francis cardboard as he is (er was) known as The Ace of Base when it came to busting wax. No Longer!!

The afternoon continued with some nice Roland "The Original Rollie the Goalie" Melanson pickups thanks to another vendor. Thanks Jackie!:) A base and auto of the Smithsonian backup! I was beginning to think Rollie was shortprinted by the lack of cardboard of the neglected Isles backup over the years.

Moving further along the group was lured into opening some Topps American Pie. A retro heavy release of cardboard dedicated to pop culture from the roaring 20's to modern times! For some reason this set got all kinds of love from the crowd including myself Got me some Gary Cooper. Super Duper! Some George Carlin. Holy $%&*! and a some animated Rudolph from the christmas holiday classic.

Oh and did I tell you that it's my birthday tomorrow. It's gonna be hard to top this one!! Any suggestions?!

Thanks for a fun afternoon. Thanks again Geoff for another shining display of hobby generosity and god bless all things cardboard!!

For that matter I should take time to blame my favourite sitcom for almost
making me miss all the excitement!!

Congrats Justin on a fine pc piece from Geoff. Putting the set of hairstyle cards from American pie. Do you have the signed mullet version

Dean

Thanks Deano! I'm very grateful that Geoff held on to it!! Highlight of my pc for sure! As for the American Pie I didn't score the auto Mullet under the fads/trends subset but I did find this Mullet from the hair raising Pinnacle release! Possible MVP of the playoffs?
