I thought a thread where members could showoff their new comics would make for an interesting and popular thread. Please showoff any new additions to your collection.

Nothing to fancy this week for me

Archie Americana : Best of the 60s TP #2
Fantastic Four #558
Final Crisis #2
Mighty Avengers #15
New Avengers #42
Power Pack Day One #4
She Hulk #30
Teen Titans #60
Ultimates 3 #4
X-Men: First Class Vol. 2 #13

Haven't had a chance to read thru them yet - but hopefully there's a few good reads in them. Ultimates was 3 months late, with iffy quality and lateness - I'm not goign to getting Ultimates 4 (assuming they make it).

Great book.

Not much in my box this week:
Final Crisis #2
X-Men Legacy #213
Wolverine: Origins #26
Uncanny X-Men #499

Also picked up Fantastic 4 #558 and Cory Doctorow's Futuristic Tales of the Here and Now #5 (I, Robot).

This week I picked up:
1985 #2
Joker's Asylum #1
GI Joe: America's Elite #36 (final issue)
Batman #678
Detective Comics #823 and #831 (back issues for a cover project)

The guys at the local shop say the shop in 1985 is based on them, and one of the guys in particular, so that's the only reason I picked it up. Either that's one of the coolest ties or I'm a big sucker.

I am on a monthly schedule. Since I moved the nearest comic shop is 1200km, I rely on Canada post to deliver my comics from my old comic shop once a month.

I just added this signature series book, its one of my favorite modern comics. Great story, art work plus its reall hard to find. Its signed by Dillion and Palmotti.

Little last - but here were my pick ups for July 2nd

Nightwing #146
Billy Batson and the Magic of Shazam #1
Penny Arcade TP #5 (Missed it in June)

Billy Batson is (or if it isn't advertised as such should be) a DC Kids book. It's by Mike Kunkel (creator of Herobear and the Kid), it's a lighthearted book. I enjoyed the book, but I'm not who it's aimed at and won't be picking up the series.

My pick ups from this past week (some current, some back issues for my runs):
Spider-Man: Civil War tpb
Ultimate Fantastic 4 55
Astonishing X-Men 23, 24, 25
Lock & Key 4, 5
GI Joe: America's Elite 35
Kick-*** 3
Batman Confidential 19
Invincible Iron Man 3
Detective Comics 846
Joker's Asylum: Penguin 1 (all in the Asylum run are 1-shots)

Lotsa reading, to say the least. And I'm getting an ok deal on the other L&K stuff.

I grabbed the following books

Booster Gold #1000000
Captain America: White #0
Justice Society of America #17
Secret Invasion #4

July 16th shipment

Birds of Prey #120
Flash #242
Mighty Avengers #16

I'm really down on Mighty Avengers, this issue was the Elektra showcase, and the book just didn't do much for me. The other two books were passable, but no big hits. I'll have to see if anything catches my eye when I go in on Friday.

Pick ups from this week, again a mix of new and old:

Joker's Asylum: Poison Ivy
Sky Doll #3
Locke & Key #1 (got a decent deal on it)
Ultimate Fantastic Four 1-52 (yeah, a big lot)
Final Crisis: Rogue's Revenge #1
Marvel 1985 #3

And a blast from the past:
Amazing Spider-Man #43 (2nd app of Rhino)

Locke & Key #1 (got a decent deal on it)

Congrats, its tough to find.

I read L&K #1 last night. Not bad. I grabbed 4 and 5 a couple of weeks ago from the local shop but I don't want to read them yet until I get 2 and 3. Same with Kick-*** and Sky Doll.

The first issue of L&K has a lot of "Uhh, ok, I guess this will make more sense later" type of stuff. I'm looking forward to reading them all.

Just back from the LCS. Between that and a few items in the mail, I've got a lot of catching up to do as usual. Several are back issues for my collection:

Sky Doll #1 and the Soleil sampler
Wanted tpb (nothing like the movie, save the first few pages and very general ideas)
Secret Invasion: Fantastic Four #1
X-Men (Legacy) 208, 209, 210, 212, 214
Uncanny X-Men #500 (and one of the various variants)
The X-Files #0
Two-Face Year One #1
Astonishing X-Men #21 (var)
Ultimate Fantastic Four #53, 54
Invincible Iron Man #3 (var--forgot to grab it last week)
Wolverine: Origins #7, 8, 16
Y: The Last Man tpb v1

This week's pick ups, in no particular order:

Wolverine: Origins 27
Wolverine 67
Catwoman 81 (just say "No" to Jolie!)
Joker's Asylum: Scarecrow 1
Joker's Asylum: Two-Face 1
Locke & Key 6
Ultimate Origins 1
Secret Invasion: Fantastic Four 2, 3
Secret Invasion 3, 4
Thunderbolts 122

Kickass is ok, I suppose. I grabbed #3 from the shop and flipped through it. I got #1 off eBay and am waiting on #2 to read them more thoroughly. It's violent and the language can be rough--I wouldn't let your son read it by any stretch. I'm sure there are tons out there like Kickass, but I'm still a spandex and super-power guy at heart. It's an alright distraction, much like L&K or Sky Doll. I know Kick has a reprint and a director's cut edition out there of #1 (and a reprint of 2)--they are pretty cheap if you want to just try it out.

I think my local shop guys have something for Millar, as that's what they always seem to recommend. I do like his 1985 series, though.

As for GI Joe--do you mean Declassified? I have the Snake Eyes Declassified tpb, but that's it from that sub-title.

I just checked on Devil's Due website and they have single issues of a lot of the GI Joe stuff pretty cheap if you need to fill in some holes. I may pick up several, as I missed out on a lot of them, and my shop doesn't carry much Joe stuff. One big shipment would probably be cheaper from DD on a per-issue basis than trying to piece it together from different shops or eBay sellers.

Is it any good? How did you find the GI Joe classified series?
