Verified Trader,
I'm guilty of not showing off my pickups as I get them. Usually just show off the really big stuff. All three of these cards came to me via eBay over the last 6 weeks (or so) of 2021 - and I think all would have gotten their own thread had they been the only nice card I added during that strech.
Here they are, and then I'll show how they fit into my collection:
The three cards are:
2014-15 Upper Deck Team Canada Master Collection, Silver Spectrum Auto /10
2012-13 ITG Between The Pipes Masked Men 5 Memorabilia GOLD 1/1
2017-18 Leaf Masked Men Red /2
These are the kinds of cards I just don't expect to find anymore. A 1/1 showing up out of an 8 year old product? You don't see stuff like that surface. Cards like that are usually locked away in the collection of someone else. My assumption is this one came out of a recent box (or case?) break - but I have no real idea. It fits nicely in with these cards:
The horizontal cards are the pack pulled Masked Men 5 Memorabilia cards. The silver was limited to 19 copies, and the Gold is a 1/1. The vertical cards are the Spring Expo redemptions. The silver was also limited to 19 copies, and the gold was also a 1/1.
If you're not familiar with 2014-15 UD Team Canada Master Collection - the info is out there. The quick version: This was a $3,000 box you could buy from UD, and it was limited to 499 boxes. There were some guaranteed cards. I believe you got a complete 50 cards base set, and a complete 22 card "Winning Standard" jersey card set - along with 10 other "hits". Those hits could be parallels, autographs, multi-signed, multi GU... and I think there may have been redemptions for actual game used equipment (and other large items). This was NOT a heavily broken product, and I think you can still buy boxes today (at a discount). It was never a good box for the flipper, but I think it was great for some collectors.
Anyway, I had never seen a copy of the Ranford Silver Spectrum Autograph until this one showed up. Was very happy to land it, and it fits nicely with the other cards I have from Team Canada Master Collection:
That's the base card /499, and two autographed booklet cards. One is just Bill Ranford (/25), the other has him paired with Joe Sakic (/10).
I'd like to find the Silver Spectrum base parallel (it's a 1/1). Ranford is also included on a quad auto, limited to 10 copies, with Gretzky, Coffey, and Anderson. I've never seen a copy (I'd like to) but I think it's out of my price range.
The third card is a Leaf Masked Men Red parallel /2. Again, these are cards that 4 years after the release - you just don't see them show up. I would love to finish off the Rainbow if I could.... here's my progress:
Included in that scan are the Base, Blue /35, Purple /15, Pink /10, Black /7, Green /5, Red /2, Gold 1/1. I'm still missing an Orange /3.
(There are also the "Wave" version of these cards... that use duflex foil, and pop even more. I didn't include them here but I'm also chasing all of them. They have all of the same colours, plus an extra 1/1. The list includes: Blue /20, Purple /9, Pink /6, Black /5, Green /4, Orange /3, Red /2, Gold /1, Super /1.... and I'm missing just the Black & Red)
Thanks for the look! Hope I've got a few interesting Ranfords to add this year too.
