Unbelieveable, the dude held off Rocco on one leg not only in the playoff, but in extra holes.

14 majors, only the 6th player to win more than 2 U.S. Opens, the only player to ever win 7 times on one course, and on and on and on.............

I cannot say anything more about the man except this:

GREATEST ATHLETE OF OUR GENERATION

Don't even try and argue me on this, that is straight up FACT.

If you play golf and face Tiger, you are getting :owned:

No. Way. Best golfer in a generation? Absolutely.
I would argue he's NOT the best golfer ever.

There are better athletes in this generation in my opinion.
Kobe Bryant? Derek Jeter? Sidney Crosby? Lebron James?

I'd put all of them before Tiger on my list.

Kobe and Jeter get consideration in my books for the fact they are winners but, again, that is a product of a team effort.

Tiger is one man doing it all which is why I make this claim.

Much like Muhammad Ali in his prime, one man, totally dominant.

Crosby and LeBron are MILES away, not even on my radar for this discussion.........

Yeah first of all congrats to Tiger and let's not forget what Rocco did as well, he went head to head with Tiger for 91 holes, anyone who can do that is amazing, hell that alone is worth a championship in my opinion lol.

Second of all I wouldn't compare Tiger to Kobe, Jeter like cardsgottago said, but like Prime said Ali cause Kobe, Jeter, Crosby etc are team efforts!!

And what are thinking already putting Lebron on that list, he's been in the league for only a few years, and hasn't won a championship, at 15 Tiger won the Junior World Golf Championship, not only once but 6x and 4 in a row, and in his second year won the Masters, not only that but He set a total of 20 Masters records and tied 6 others.

So yeah TIGER>>>>>>>>>>>LEBRON~!

Just to put things into context ...... Rocco went head to head with Tiger ( on one leg, having not played for several months ) and still lost.

I watched all of the playoff round, even got my wife cheering for Tiger ( wonder if I can convince her to buy some clubs ), so I was absorbed.

I do give credit to Rocco for the three shot swing over the middle holes, that was impressive, but I still believe that this was the rest of the field's chance to get at Tiger ....... and yet he still emerges triumphant.

He is beyond comparison

Define Athlete then if you don't think he's one of the greatest, have you walked a 18 hole golf course in 100 degree weather and put up scores he can? Hell I bet you can't even break a +39 at one of those courses playing 18 holes!

That statement there is complete IGNORANCE!

I'm sorry, but I know a guy who is almost 400 lbs and is a 1 handicap. He has played on the smaller tours and had some success - is he an athlete? Could a 400 lb guy run the floor with Kobe and KG? No.

There is an important distinction that needs to be made there. Anyone, regardless of physical health, can play the game of golf at it's highest level - see also John Daly. Not true for the other sports.

And I'm sorry, but if Tiger does not return to golf at 100%, he will be remembered as the tool who sacrificed everything for 1 tournament... all the records and endorsement money he could have had all for naught because he wouldn't rehab his knee properly. Is 1 US Open important enough to risk not playing in the next 10-20?

This guy walks around the 18 hole golf course in 100+ degree weather, and I'm not talking about walking from the cart to the ball to hit it then drive the cart again either...

that was more exciting than a soccer game, I couldn't keep my eyes off the tele, and I'm the kind of guy who finds golf boring... now I have a whole new insight to it lol

Apparently these are the top 10 athletes in the world today!

http://online.wsj.com/public/resources/documents/info-GREATEST08.html

Just taken a quick look at the list - Ronaldinho #9 is a shocker.

He is a great footballer, but athlete ....... you are having a laugh. He has skills that are undeniable, but his work rate and fitness are questionable ( not as bad as Ronaldo .... but bad ).

They often put stats on Champions League games of distance covered by players in a game - over 90 minutes most world class midfielders ( Gerrard, Lampard etc etc ) cover around 11,000 metres.

Another athletic pursuit that gets no mention is rugby - those guys take as much punishment as American Football players but without the padding.
