Tkachuk + conditional 2025 4th for Huberdeau, Weegar, Cole Schwindt, and a conditional 2025 1st.

Tkachuk signs at 8 years for 9.5 million per

WTF is Florida thinking???

Huberdeau is a UFA after this season. I suspect the condition on the first is if Huberdeau doesn't resign with the Flames. In fact, I'll start the rumours already that he'll want to be traded during the season and will be dangled at the trade deadline. Does Montreal have any decent young prospects to offer? Surely Huberdeau can bring an even bigger haul.

I like Weegar. Flames top 6 d now are very solid. Just need to find someone to put the puck in the net!

Hey! Winnipeg needs any Montreal prospects for the *******-Dubois deal that probably has to happen by the trade deadline. :P

Dubois, Huberdeau (in the past he stated Montreal), Giroux, Gaudreau, Tkachuk... more about the location they want to go than against where they were. The money is beyond the point of necessity now... players wants are evolving and GMs/scouts need to take that into account a bit. Depends how the season evolves... if the Flames are doing well (no reason they shouldn't be competing in a playoff spot)... they could sign them before the trade deadline. UFA's, so they will play their hearts out... they could bring even more assests if it turns into a rebuild at the deadline. Win-win for Flames given their choice in the matter. Florida, I hope Chuckie does well for them... just not against his brother!

Given the circumstances great job by Treliving. To somehow get another 100 point player, top 4 d man, prospect and a 1st rounder for a guy who wants out and only will sign with a handful of teams. Amazing. Exceeded my expectations.

Obviously the big caveat is the contract status of Huberdeau and weegar. I’m sure they have a good idea what’s needed to be done to get them signed. Absolute worst case you move these guys for a killing at the deadline. I really feel they will be signed by the end of the summer though. Would definitely turn a disastrous off-season into a decent one.

The good news is that the Lucic and Monahan current contracts come off the books at the end of this season so Flames are more than capable of fitting in a Huberdeau-type contract after this season. I think if Johnny would have taken the 80M they would have had a tough time getting Mangiapane re-signed. And then if Tkachuk signs for 9.5M like he did in Florida that's 1/4 of your cap space taken up by 2 guys who, IMO, are totally cashing in on 1 solid season and not worth the money they're being paid.
