Tomorrow (Wednesday May 13 @10pm EST) on the 10th Episode of Sports Cards Live - Barrie Grice!

Gomaz, just use ET all the time, saves having to switch for EST to EDT, which is what it is these days.

I've caught some of the videos.

One small suggestion. I know it is more time to create, but I saw the last highlight clip. If you created 20 minute highlight clips, with maybe 2-3 sections of the best part of the video, I'd watch them, I just don't have 2 hours to watch it all.

Noted and thank you for the feedback!

So are you saying I shouldn't use "eastern" and "pacific" instead of "ET"? (I wasn't even aware of the difference between EST and EDT until you just prompted me to google it.)

The nice thing about Youtube is that you can watch in parts. YouTube will remember where you last left off.

That said, going forward I will be attempting to clip out some of the more interesting portions of the videos.

And if I get super-productive, perhaps even chop up the full show into 20 minute parts. Mike, would this motivate you to watch them more so than the 2 hour videos? Or would 6 - 20 minute videos be too much too?

Eastern is fine. ET is fine. When you use EDT and EST you just have to switch them when the time switches. A couple years ago I just started using ET instead of EDT/EST and it makes life simpler. Most won't know or care, but I don't want to cause any confusion, so ET works for me.

In terms of breaking up the show, I would say, at 2-3 times/week, I probably only have time for 20 minutes for each show max. So, making one show into six 20 minutes pieces isn't for me. I just want the "Highlight Reel".

Again, different strokes for different folks. Maybe make one highlight reel and see if it gets more views then the full show. Experiment.

I'm about to launch my own channel, so I know all that is involved. It can be a challenge.

Love to hear from Bruce. If I can remember he opened a bar in BC. Norm ,you should also be a guest

Great show guys. Sounded to me like it could have went another 2 hours without slowing down.

We could have! We had some topics we didn't even get to, but hit key ones, especially the card market as a whole right now, that was important.

While a lot of us know each other from HI, and many here collect hockey, we all need to remember Jeremy's show is SPORTS cards live, not HOCKEY cards or HI live.

There is a huge hobby out there and we can't be blind to the fact you need to appeal to a board group and grow this thing. Focusing predominately on one sport or your closest buddies won't help you grow the audience.

I love the hobby and the associated banter, and try to stay in touch with as much as I can in all different area. But it's hard being very knowledgeable about 1 sport, let alone 4, and other things on top of that. But that's what is great, we can all learn something from fellow hobbyists, we all have something to offer, and our diverse interests make it easy to find the info we need to grow our collections and passion!

Jeremy's channel will bring a lot of great insight from different people with different backgrounds in the hobby. Hopefully it will spark some hockey collectors to venture to other sports, and vice versa.

J, thank you for having me on and I look forward to the forthcoming episodes!

I love watching baseball, NFL football and even golf.

For whatever reason I have no interest in collecting cards from those sports. I can appreciate them and I see that value wise I am collecting the wrong sport.

I guess if I was in it for more investment then enjoyment I would venture out. I would lie if I didn’t look at my collection from a potential resale value but I also want to understand and enjoy my collection.

Great show again and great insight.

I too follow other sports and find other sport products interesting, but I find it to just be so confusing as to where to even get started. What are the "good" sets. Whats equivalent to a YG? Whats a cup RPA? I just find the Panini, Topps, Bowman etc to be very confusing and so I wouldn't even know where to start or whats good.

I guess its easy for hockey since its all (for the most part) Upper Deck.

I don't think anyone who collects for pure dollars and cents is going to survive long in this hobby. You collect what you like and enjoy and sometimes the outcome of that is you end up with some nice cards of value. But if you don't truly have a connection or your heart into what you follow and collect, you will never find happiness or longevity in this hobby. That said, maybe find someone or something else in another sport you enjoy and try it out? Or don't?

My point here was the show can't cater to HI/hockey or it will fail and hopefully along the way some HI/hockey members learn some new stuff and/or try other sports? In the end, there's no rules or binding agreement, just do what makes you happy. :)

Topps is all that exists in LICENSED baseball, likewise for Panini with the NFL and NBA, so there's your starting point?

Basketball, Panini Prizm rookies are THE thing, along with older UD Exquisite issues when they had an NBA license.

Baseball wise, the first Bowman card of a player, and more specifically, Bowman Chrome Autograph (provided its an option) are the start to your chase there. Then I would say a base Topps RC from Series 1 or 2 (akin to Young Guns in hockey) followed by a mid-range autograph RC (Finest is my first thought) and then maybe something super high end with memorabilia like Topps Dynasty, Tier One, or Definitive?

But again, there are no rules to collecting, go for what interests you. I've told both my sons to go that route and they enjoy cards ranging from hundreds of dollars, to just dollars. Hope this helps?:beer:

I thought you quit collecting years ago?
I guess I need to go watch the video.

I guess you were mistaken to a certain extent? Again, there is SO much hobby stuff that exists outside these boards, it's unreal. Also, as you may have noticed, or not, I don't do show and tells anymore, haven't done one in like 3 plus years I believe, so how would you or anyone else know what I am, or am not collecting? ;)

I took a hockey hiatus after my second was born for a few years, and really scaled back in general, but I still dabbled in baseball and non-sports and was collecting other things. The ebb and flow of the hobby, it happens! :D

Well this is what I've come up with Mike. I hope it makes it a little easier to watch.

You should share some of your pickups. You're a big presence on here Barrie and I think I can speak for others when I say your Show And Tells would be very entertaining, hockey-related or not.

I only collect hockey, but I have so much appreciation for all cards in general.

I just finished watching the entire episode and thought this a great episode. As a primarily hockey only collector, I find any hobby related information linked to the other major sports interesting as well simply because I don't know. Lots to think and research if I want to dabble in the other sports. I'll admit I have always been intrigued by baseball but was always confused as to the rookie cards. My idea of a mainstream rookie card has mainly been the UD Young Guns or the well known rookies of HOF'ers. Looking forward to the next one!

Jeremy,
I went to check your videos out, and your videos aren't listing in the Videos tab. Not sure if it is because you selected a username for your channel.

When I go to a specific video, it comes up, but all the Youtube links, text around it are missing as well.

Might want to check into it.
