Toronto Star Article On Tim Hortons Hockey Cards

i actually saw a guy in line in front of me carrying his scale. The worker was actually going to let him weigh the packs & pick his own. I put a stop to that in a hurry especially since i was going to buy packs too. Fortunately i knew the owner so i spoke up but im sure this happens quite a bit.

This is saddening. Is it the redemptions that weigh more? These are so rare so what is the point in being a douchebag and have the packs weighed? At least it's not as bad as people waiting hours in line at Walmart for a box of cards lol.

the Trios, Duo's, Top Line Talent etc weigh more than the regular cards, thats a fact but i am not sure about the redemptions but any redemption card i have ever hit was thicker than a regular card so i would assume they as well weigh more.
In a small town like Parry Sound i am sure this happens more than normal.

There is 2 guys in Hamilton that every year have hundreds of clear cuts and trios, duos. I mean they have binders full of them. They have been posting them on kijiji every year since the tims cards came out. No idea how they are managing to do it every year but guess the incentive is they make thousands every year doing it.

redemptions may, duos and clears did last year....trios and clears do not this year. Bot a box and weighed all 100 packs and no noticeable difference

I feel his pain, I also have spent hundreds of $ on this product and still havent got a crosby clear lol this guy has bought dozens of packs and not gotten any good hits so he whines to the media. I just opened 7 megas from wal mart and didnt get a lafreniere......calling the local radio station now

The difference is at walmart you just lost the odds, at Tims people are pack searcing! Big difference.

there is no crosby clear so this guy has no clue what he is talking about, and no way to pack search at tims this year all packs weigh the same

Wow, now that's a but much. I can only imagine some dude walking into Timmies with a scale for cards haha.

So what you are telling me is that certain people are weighing the packs for customers and themselves in the hope that one pack may or may not weigh more than another in the hope that they might make a few extra bucks? Seriously, those clear cuts are not worth enough to go through all this trouble and imagine a kid pulling a nice looking insert and the smile on his or her face. Priceless? The hobby really sickens me sometimes!!

I totally agree with this right here!
Dan.

I have bought two packs and both were chosen by the employee. A McDavid Clear Cut in the first and a Quinn Hughes Red Die Cut in the next. My own personal opinion is that these packs are for the kids. I get the idea of buying sleeves of these cards and the money it brings in (and I know I’m in the absolute minority), but the kids in my son and daughter’s grade three class get a bigger kick out of these cards than I do. More power to you if you hoard the hell out of these, I’ll step back and hope parents with kids get the ones I pass up on. Shame on anyone that’s searching these packs and taking the air out of the spirit of these cards.

thx dan-0!!!! The only reason that I get these packs once a week with my ice cappucino or creamy chill is b/c I can not afford to buy boxes anymore and I love to rip packs. It is the kid in me that likes getting something cool like a clearcut or a maple leaf for my pc and ever since I started collecting tim's cards i have kept everything I have. Then again I do that with most of my cards. The purpose of these cards is also to complete sets and I remember at trade nights at my LCS that's what many people would do. They would tell stories about filling up binders with their kids and would bring their doubles to trade with others. That's what the hobby should be about!!!
