So anyone here know that there are TWO James Norris'? Father and son.

Well, the father is THE James Norris we refer to when we talk about the Norris trophy. His middle name begins with E. Wikipedia page:

James E Norris- Father.

Here is a completed autction with his signature:

James E Norris cut autograph (father)

His SON, is also in the Hall of Fame but he is NOT the one being typically referred to when people talk about the Norris trophy. His middle name starts with a D. His wiki page:

James D Norris- Son.

Here is an ongoing auction with his signature:

James D Norris Cuto Autograph (son)

Anyone else feel UD should make it a point to distinguish between the two? Their autos are strinkingly similar but the JAMES E NORRIS (father) is the one everyone would truly want. And the one commonly referred too when talking about James Norris, or the Norris trophy.

Do you think it is at all possible UD doesn't even know the difference and just passes them off as the same guy? The more I think of it, the more I find this quite likely.

Thoughts?

I dont think they know the different nor do they care.
It would be nice if they would put James E or D, but since when do they listen to customers lol.
They really arent doing anything wrong, it all comes down to researching what you buy.

Oh I agree, I don't think they are doing anything wrong per se but I think I speak for, well, everyone, when I say it would be NICE if they distinguished between the two. Just put and E or a D and it settles a lot of 'questions', cross referencing and research.

Give UD a break. Their employees try their darndest:

They did use photos to distinguish the two. If they had junior's signature on dad's card, then there would be reason to be upset. Using the initial to differ the two would be best, but what this does is that it creates a problem on the secondary market. People may know the name "James Norris", but not know what his sig or face looks like. Junior's card could be easily passed off as that of his pop's.

Also, when James Norris jumps into a pool, he doesn't get wet, the pool gets James Norrissed.

I was just thinking, UD should produce a triple cut:

James E. Norris
James D. Norris
Chuck Norris

The only problem is, I don't think a pair of scissors exists that could cut Chuck Norris' signature.

 It would have to be a redemption as well... I doubt any of Upper Deck's packs could contain Chuck Norris...

I have to give props to West's for clearly indicating that their auction is for the son's Cut Signature.

I emailed the seller yesterday to tell him about my discovery ;)

But yeah, he's great at comunicating! Big props to him for not trying to trick someone.
