Speaking with our distributor Friday, I noticed the UD Canada World Junior set had been pulled from the up-coming products list.

I asked and was told it was cancelled. (Nelson @ Grosnor Feb 20/09)

Bummer - it was a great concept.

30 cards plus 2 jerseys for $25(+/-).

They likely could not get the jerseys.

Maybe ITG put some pressure on UD to stick to NHL licensed stuff, since this is the type of set that ITG is forced to turn to?

Bummer...I was really looking forward to that release, was down for atleast 5 sets...O well, more money towards other things.

I was planning to crack a case of that stuff. For God's sake, UD, cancel Ultimate, not this kind of reasonably priced stuff!

Highly unlikely - ITG does not have a Hockey Canada license - so how in the world would they be able to pressure UD into not making a set that they have no license for?

UD has a Hockey Canada license - they have a right to make it. But if mentioned that the jerseys could not be obtained, that would make a lot of sense that it was something logistical. Each team goes through three sets of jerseys during the tournament - one white, one red, and one alternate (this time the blood passion jerseys used as the fundraiser.) The players get to keep the jerseys that they won their medal in - so that would have left one set, the whites -what happened to that, who knows - but I'd sense in any case, the torches would be out for them anyways because of all the white swatches that would come out.

I'm disappointed too - I always love adding national team themed sets to my collection.

i am happy. i would rather they cancel the whole thing rather than use event worn or photo shoot jerseys.

i will keep my money with ITG cause i know that they use actual game used jerseys and equipment. too bad that they don't have a licence, if they could only add rookies to their upcoming products. it would be such a nice bonus to pull rookies in BTP and Superlative(if they make another). i could see them short printing them to 99 or so and making them auto/patches or something cool. it would be nice to pull bonus great cards from great products. i am sure they could make superlative like a SP auto/patch rc in each pack. now that would be nice.

I would hope they would have secured a set of the jerseys before they put the effort into announcing the set.

Refunds

hey, anyone who prepaid me will get a refund as soon as
my wholesaler confirms and i'm off the hook with them.

Most likely it will be monday night.

UD probably would have just screwed it up anyway... blue and green swatches on Team Canada jerseys... Pavel Vorobiev sticker autos on Ryan Ellis cards...

I was looking forward to this, but by the time UD would have released it the excitement of the World Juniors would have been long gone. ITG hit the nail on the head by offering super boxes of H&P pretty much immediately after the tournament and the timing couldn't have been better. Maybe some of the cards will appear as replacements?

this is too bad as this is a set i was looking forward to.....great price point with GU pieces as well it would have been a fun set to build
