Verified Trader,
Hey everyone,
Been a while since my last show-and-tell but it's been a pretty slow summer and fall in terms of autograph returns, and even picking up new cards. Also no help that we're in the middle of a depressing lockout situation right now.
Still, a few cool things came in for sure:
Only one new Canucks card...12-13 OPC Signatures Maxim Lapierre, really like the look of this set:
Two big Eric Staal cards! I am very excited to see what looks like a lot of Team Canada Olympic cards that will be included in near-future sets. I hope they will be able to use photos of players actually playing in the Olympics:
Went to the Big Langley Bossa Show last month, and got this Geroy Simon auto for free thanks to Past Time Sports. Don't follow CFL very much, but he is a Lions legend:
New TTM returns!
Ray Whitney retro-rookie:
Charlie Hodge (great signer):
Steve Bozek:
Daryl Stanley (big thanks to TurcoCollector35 for helping me acquire these):
Jamie Huscroft:
Another enforcer: Joe Kocur (when was the last time you saw a card of this guy in a Canucks uniform?!)
Ralph Stewart
Dave Richter (another superb signer; wrote a note wishing me luck on my Canucks autograph project)
Jimmy Carson
Ryan Shannon
Jim Dowd
Sean Brown!
Michel Petit via S&B Sports
Petr Nedved - waited 10 months for this, he sent me 3 of these back, the autograph doesnt' show up super well because black on black..I should've known better:
Another big return, waited about 6 months, but felt way longer:
Aaron Volpatti!
My first TTM Silhouette completed! For those wondering what fabric that is, it comes from a game-used sock I found at Canucks season-end equipment sale. Apparently, all socks are just washed together, and shared amongst all the players, so, I would think Volpatti may likely have worn it at some point. Either way, it is game-used material.
10 months wait for these two autographed photos--very worth it though:
Nina Dobrev!
And, some hockey players I met at the Big Langley Bossa Show:
Garry Valk:
Here's us with Geroy Simon:
And probably the highlight of the weekend was to meet Ryan Kesler:
Anyhow, hope the NHL will get going soon. It's sometimes easy to just think of everybody on either side of the argument as greedy *******s, but really, there are a lot of players, staff, etc. that are equally frustrated as fans. Ok, enough depressing talk, we won't go there.
Till next time, I guarantee there will be some (or at least one), very cool post later in November, stay tuned
