UD cutting up comics to make cards

I think it's kind of neat. As they said in their blog, they aren't cutting up Gem Mint vintage comics. More than likely they found poor ungraded copies that not a lot of people find desirable. Probably a matter of time before we see the same thing with cards.

Besides if they cut up more vintage comics it'll make your copies worth more.

This is actually pretty darn cool!

At first read I was skeptical. I collect both hobbies religiously... however upon further review, I think this is a great idea. If what Chris mentioned is true (about poor ungraded copies) than that makes it even better! I love combining the 2 worlds.

There is a list of the 10 comics they cut up and being a HUGE Daredevil fan, Daredevil #181 is on the list. I am looking quite forward to seeing what they look like and may pick up a couple.

Here's the quote from the blog, "we have actually cut out key panels from classic vintage comics in very poor condition". There are a ton more pics on the UD Blog including the Daredevil ones:

Thanks for that Chris!

OH MY GOD. To comic fans, this is the equivalent of the Bobby Orr Header auto /4 of 'The Goal' lol

I am sooooo in for some of the DD ones.

a) When does this product get released
b) Any IDEA what these might go for???? Are they 1/1's or did they cut up DD #181 like.... 5 times and have 5 cards of the same panel?

OK I looked into it more. There are in total 55 Daredevils to chase. Each one is a different panel from DD #181.

I am soooo in for this. Going to ebay right now!

Edit:

It appears only 1 Daredevil has surfaced so far and it is a 'weaker' one:

On the other hand, there are quite a few Spider-mans... and they range from about $50-150 it seems.

I cringed at the thought when I first saw this post. But after getting clarification from Vegaspuck about what they're doing, it seems like a interesting idea and I know that my friends that are into comics but no so much into cards will think its kind of neat.

Can't wait to see what the card goes for since you can normally find a decent copy of Daredevil 181 for $20-$50.

I am glad they are not cutting up copies in good condition...but I am no longer a collector and have not been since I was in HS(about 16years).
