umm I thought I knew this set fairly well. thought I was 3 cards shy

phil Esposito
Patrick Roy
Mario Lemieux

(if you have any please let me know!)

this doesn't show up on the checklist that ive heard of and the 1/1's are black and I thought the serial numbers were all machine stamped not hand written

this looks like a brown that someone wrote the 1/1 on......but where did the card come from to begin with. I don't think ive ever seen a lafontaine on a checklist let alone a card

Any help anyone can give would be appreciated!

Thank you

I emailed the seller a few days ago as I also saw this auction. He said he received it directly from Pat himself, probably at a charity event. The Lafontaine is on Beckett's checklist. I WANT ONE TOO!!!

fargggggggg. I looked at the scan again, the texture looked good on it as well. bs on the 1/1, but arghhhhhhhhhhhh. another one to find

I have a feeling the cards were sent to Pat but he never signed any of them, hence why they were never inserted in packs nor have redemptions. He probably has the whole stack at home collecting dust.

I think more proof is needed instead of one persons word that these cards are legit. This card could of come from anywhere as there has been many fake autos done in the past. I just don't trust anyone or anything in this hobby anymore.

I would like to see this card indeed true and Pat kept all those cards. Hopefully social media can shed some light and possibly a response from Pat himself. Whoever presses on with this, keep us all posted......

Good luck

I think it´s the same with Lafontaine 06-07 Parkhurst auto that newer was issued but saw one sell for around a month ago, think it also went for around the same amount.
Here is the links to the 3 Parkhurst cards:

Two of these (the first and third cards) both have 1/1 handwritten on the back as well.

My guess is that Pat did keep a lot of these cards and for whatever reason they are seeing the light of day now. Maybe he found them and is giving them out at charities, or through TTM signings, who knows.

I think I remember someone saying Theo Fleury has done this before with some cards he was supposed to sign.

Also, not too long ago a member received a TTM from Ryan Whitney and received a couple of previously unreleased 07-08 OPC Premier Pairings #/50 w/Marc-Andre Fleury. One copy ended up (not surprisingly) in Kendall's PC. Check it out:

So it can definitely happen, and I think that's what happened in this case with these Pat Lafontaine autos.

Oh man - I always wanted that Captains auto of him. Back when I was collecting Pat (or collecting period), I remember ALL of his auto's being redemptions that year. Neat to see some of the cards finally signed, whatever the circumstances may be.

FWIW - those all look like legit signatures, not that I am DNA/CSI forensics certified, lol.

Yes I recall Theo Fleury a few years back signing some old stuff that he was suppose to sign a long time ago. Dr. Price commented on it I believe since they were ITG cards.
