The redemption cards will be good for one of twelve 2011-12 NHL rookie players and will be fulfilled at random so collectors will not know who they are getting until they receive their package from Upper Deck. We do this so the experience will be similar to opening a pack. A list of the players available is listed below:
RE-AH Adam Henrique New Jersey
RE-BC Brett Connolly TampaBay
RE-BG Blake Geoffrion Nashville
RE-BS Brendan Smith Detroit
RE-CE Cody Eakin Washington
RE-GL Gabriel Landeskog Colorado
RE-JG Jake Gardiner Toronto
RE-MZ Mika Zibanejad Ottawa
RE-RE Ryan Ellis Nashville
RE-RN Ryan Nugent-Hopkins Edmonton
RE-SD Simon Despres Pittsburgh
RE-ZK Zack Kassian Buffalo
All twelve cards are produced in equal quantities so there will be no short prints, but all the cards are very limited.
These cards are the next “evolution” of the Evolution video cards meaning their construction and design will be drastically different than other video cards Upper Deck have previously released.
The cards are not autographed or crash-numbered, but feature content that is exclusive to these Rookie Evolution video cards that was filmed at the 2011 NHLPA Rookie Showcase. We filmed the athletes against a green screen and were able to capture some amazing video footage that we think collectors will very much enjoy.
Since the cards have a premium new construction, design and exclusive video content, we felt they belonged in our most premium release of the year; in 2011-12 NHL The Cup.
The cards are in the production process now and we anticipate they will be completed a few weeks down the road. We will provide an updated status on customer’s redemption accounts who have redeemed them. We will also share information as to when customers can expect to receive them through our Facebook and Twitter pages.
Take a look at some behind-the-scenes images from the 2011 NHLPA Rookie Showcase where we filmed content for the new Rookie Evolution video cards.

Not even Auto'd?
Ouch...

This is why buying "unknown" items is such a gamble. The people who paid big money for these will probably be quite upset, but they have no one to blame but themselves. I was shocked to see these sell as high as $600, UD gave no information about them yet people were throwing crazy money at these redemptions.

Will they be worth more then those mini PC dvd's UD did years ago? Not sure how or why they would be, but to each his own.

I think the rationale was that they would be signed. I mean Panini's are signed but were redemptions, and UD's were live in packs but not signed. So if these ones are redemptions, people thought they would be signed. The fact that the player list is so large may help increase the value of the RNH video or something... increase from how much is the question though.

I don't see these cards being worth much at all, atleast to me. A video from the Rookie Showcase? I have no interest in something like this.

I have hated video "cards" since day one, and the only thing that could possibly give them a shred of value is an autograph, and these don't even have that. If I has paid $500+ for something like that I'd be super pissed at UD right now for not giving out this info sooner. Rookie showcase footage... Pffftt.

In all honesty though, I don't know why people would have thought that they were auto'd. A quick google search would have shown them that, based on previous video cards in football, these things would not have any GU or autos in/on them.

What a joke, I bet the people who sold theirs already are really happy!

As if they put something like that in The Cup...seems like more of a Collectors Choice idea.

I redeemed mine, Im excited. Something different and could be worth keeping.

I dont see what the big deal is and why all the negative comments. Sure it would be nice if they are auto'd but they are not so live with it and dont buy them.

People throw good money away at bad things every single day, just remember Its their money NOT Yours.

Upper Deck didnt promise anything so there should realistically be no disappointment!

I dont collect for VALUE, if I did I would invest all my money in mason jars and a shovel! I buy to collect. Think about that the next time you buy packs and EXPECT value. Its a gamble just like Life is every single day!

Just my two cents in support of somebody trying something different for a change.

It's more the way UD waited until a week after release to tell people exactly what it was they were buying. That should have been promoted up front. Really, why couldn't this info be released one or two weeks ago? It's not like the rookie showcase just happened yesterday. People shouldn't have to jump into such a high end product blind.

I'm sure there are lots of collectors who are not as knowledgeable as us who thought these redemptions would include autographs. Some won't care and some will be pissed. I'd be one of the latter :)

I think it would be alittle better if it had highlights from the 2011 season. I'm not sure how others think, but I couldn't care less about that Rookie Showcase event. I think some people saw that it was a redemption and assumed it was autographed since it wasn't live.

What a pile of crap. These just sound god awful. For anyone who bought these i feel sorry for you, and hope you can make even half of your money back.

Just playing devils advocate... Why would you buy something not knowing what it was? In reference to singles sales the first week of release on ebay.

My opinion: because it's a $500 pack and it's a redemption. I would've thought it had an auto if I was buying it. On the other hand if most of those guys had live autos then you would have to think that they would've been in the packs. I personally think its a stupid idea. Something new, yeah I get it but its just a stupid idea.

Why were people even excited for this thing in the first place?

Is a crappy piece of outdated technology... even worse, it has footage of rookie showcase...

Big whoooop..
