Am I correct in assuming that the cards from this set feature patches from the crest? If so, I don't know where on a Nordiques jersey these would have come from (apologies to Scott for using his images, this is where I first noticed this)

Growing up as a Nords fan (in Philly of all places), and being a bit of an equipment geek back in the day, these cards stuck out to me. I can't think of anywhere in the crest or fleur de lis where these kinds of patches would be present. Overlaps of materials like the red and blue didn't happen in the crest. Any red and blue pieces would have been seperated by white. I'm assuming they are numbers. Not the end of the world, but just one of those little things. I love Nords mem, so I'll probably be in the market, regardless of what they call the set.

I was going to say it HAS to be from the emblem because the Nordiques used iron on material instead of sewn patches for their numbers and fleur de lis but after a quick google search, they did use actual fabric patches later on. It is definitely not from the Nordiques igloo/stick logo since there is always a white buffer between any blue and red sections.

It's definitely from the number. My guess is the 2nd patch is from the bottom corner of the #1 on the shoulder 13. The top could be anywhere but my guess is from the #1 on the shoulder or the back from the number 13.

Id guesstimate that the first two of Sakic's career (wearing #88 then #19) they wore the iron on numbers and fleur de lis with the smaller, twillish crest. They then changed to the jersey you show above. If you can find the iron on like some of last year's LL's from The Cup and from NT Frozen Treasures, you can date the material to a small range of years. Back to the topic at hand, the numbers on those jerseys are very narrow (I have an authentic Sakic road jersey from the era) and I suspect the material in the card is from the back numbers.

UD has had a Nordiques jersey for Sundin for years - I remember it being used for the Good Ol' Days jersey cards in 02-03? It matches the Ultrafil material that the Nords used and they have used this is in several Cup insert sets for Sundin in the last few years.

Numbers have been used in this set - I have an Eberle card from this set that clearly uses the inside portion of the 4 from the arms. All of the cresting that the Nordiques used for years was mainly using the heat press material until the 1990-91 season when CCM got the league wide deal to make all jerseys.

I suspect I know why he wore 88 LOL. I had no idea all these years he wore that number early in his career. Wow.

Just an FYI, the Limited Logos for a few years had number and nameplates in them, so I would take UD's claim of "Logos" or "Emblems" with a grain of salt.
