OK, unless I'm way off, that dual is from 07-08, yes? Now, take that most redemptions that I've seen lately have an expiration date of 5 years, which would make it 2012 at the very latest. Now, seeing as we are only in March of 2012, and most editions of The Cup don't come out until June/July/August, it comes to assume that it shouldn't expire until around then, as well.

Now, if that's an 05-06 or 06-07, it's a moot point. However, anything later than that should potentially still be active, for a few months at minimum.

That also presumes that most, if not all, of that particular year product wasn't busted, and the redemption was never pulled. But what are the chances of that?

If the Brodeur/Stevens was supposed to be auto'd then you got royally hosed with that replacement. If not then it's not terrible but still lacking IMO.

for some cards, they are pulled completely from the checklist and redemptions were not packed out. running the tracker every year, i can tell you there are a handful of cards that are never included on the checklist yet make their way eventually onto the market.

my guess is some are being returned late and are being held in stock for occasions like these. while a thornton/marleau is a horrible replacement for a brodeur/stevens dual auto shields, getting a shield card back as a replacement at least takes the sting out a little bit. even if the value is maybe half at best.

I can't see the card because whatever he's hosting from is blocked at work, but UD's redemptions for 07-08 I believe were 3 years. They seem to be 2 years now. Topps and Panini appear to be the only companies doing the 5 year cycle, and even then, I believe Topps is culling that a tad (I think they're doing 4 years now)

Sorry to hear about not getting the Dual you'd originally intended to receive. I don't know about fair value or anything like that, but the replacements are nice.

why not give someone says what he wants .... always the answer is too expensive for me ... just tell what time would you give, maybe we can find a way?.....

I agree with the above, they really could have done a lot more to help make up the difference here. That dual is worth no where near the value of the Brodeur/Stevens. The Crosby does little to help that out, IMO.
That said, the simple fact that you got a Shield as a replacement for a shield is pretty amazing.

I am a Stevens fan, and while the replacement may not be perfect, I think they at least tried to do you right. Thornton is a superstar, Marleau is a star. There is a bit of East coast bias here, but I simply think the Brodeur/Stevens would have been a great card to see. I wonder if they are just waiting for Stevens to sign it or both, if neither has signed it, I would almost ask if you can have the card as is. Still be a cool card.
