UD2 “dud” cases

I recently opened an entire 12 box 2019-20 upper deck series 2 case and got NO SP canvas cards. NOT one! After speaking with someone at Upper Deck they said they will ship me replacements. Fast forward to last night. Another case of UD2! First four boxes in, NOT one canvas YG. No POE. No retired stars. Brutal!!! I’ve contacted Upper Deck again. Yeah it might look suspicious from their end! But in 13 years I’ve NEVER contacted them to complain. This is unacceptable in my opinion. $1300 per case! These hits generally help alleviate some of the cost. What I want to know is if you’ve opened cases of this year’s series two and had the same thing happen????
 
That's rough.

I never opened any cases myself, but a few case breakers at my LCS had multiple cases where they did not get a full young guns set.
 
I've seen some hobby boxes that haven't had a single YG, so this doesn't surprise me to an extent. The product is packed by machine, so sometimes mistakes happen.
 
I believe Upper Deck just screws up sometimes.

I once bought a box of UDS1 of I believe 11-12. No rookies. I did get a clear-cut Bossy (I think) and when I phoned Upper Deck they gave me a hard time because I did pull a case hit. But yeah... where are my 6 young guns? Anyways... they mailed me 6 crap YG's from that year. Yay.

15-16 UDS1 I went to the Expo in Toronto. I had heard rumours that someone bought a case of it and did not pull McDavid or a Larkin (the 2nd hottest rookie from that year at the time). I am unsure but I thought an entire set was supposed to be pulled from a single case.

Anyways.. I do not know about "dud" boxed. I believe that there are hot boxes and that Upper Deck knows where they are and who they distribute them to. I could get a box of UDS1 that year at the expo for 90. Never hit a McDavid. But if you pay $115 from a huge company (buyer of UD) you have a chance of pulling a McDavid.

Kinda strange... those are the things that stick out in my mind over the years.
 
You are not guaranteed an entire YG set from a case.

My case this year came 6 YGs short of a set.

UD does screw up though. I've had some strange ones. Base cards with no gloss on the front. A half case of tins (6 tins total) came with 4 retired canvas. The odds of that are infinitesimal, and it also means that these cards were probably very tough pulls otherwise.
 
My case was a little bit of that. I did not get a complete YG set and was missing 14 to complete the set. I did get 6 YG Canvas and 2 legends but not POE. Case hit was a signature sensations of Mittlestadt. So not a great case by far

UD could really do a lot more to make hobby boxes/cases better value. 3-4 autos in the $10-20 range would go a long way. You're only getting 1 UD exclusive YG/case now, so it's very hit or totally miss.
 
I opened a 20-box case of Series 2 Retail and it was short about half of the Canvas YG's. Retail cases are more hit and miss, so I could understand missing a couple, but ending up with only 5 or so instead of 10 was a bit of a pain.

I also didn't get a full YG set out of the case (120 Young Guns). Thankfully I didn't miss any of the big names.

I agree! They responded within two day. They said replacements could arrive within 10 weeks?? Very courteous and understanding. As far as I’m concerned, they are doing what they are supposed to which is fixing the problem.

It'll be interesting to see what they send. They've always been good to me in those situations, but I don't recall ever having a problem with an entire case.
 
is kinda lame that you arent even guaranteed a full set of YGs now, in the old days, no matter how bad the case was, at you still had a full set to fall back on.
 
My 1st case this year I was 8 ygs short of a set (1st time ever since 2005 not getting a full set).

My 2nd case i barely got a full set of ygs

I had nearly the same canvas ygs in both cases but had a vast array of inserts in both cases
 
Finally opened the remaining boxes i bought... Was about 6 boxes total(one i did ooen earlier)
... Can't remember which one but i got a poe(probably a yg canvas too) but i was pleased to get cayden primeau clear cut(probably my big hit).... Probably wil wait to sell..(or if i trade) .. Selling now is probably as smart as selling a stock that goes down a bit.....or maybe i should get it graded. Not sure if he is next line... Or if price still has a hold on it past the expansion draft

I consider myself lucky. I busted two cases of series one and three cases of series two and got a complete set of young guns in each case.
