Matt, I have to disagree with you. I think that Sotiropoulos is 2 fights away from a title shot. If he beats Siver I believe that they will give him a top 10 lightweight and if he were to get through that I think that he would get his shot.
Dave, we're arguing/discussing 2 different points here

My opinion of Siver/Sot is I view neither of them as a title threat, as opposed to a deserved title shot. I actually agree Sotiropoulos is 2 fights away from a title shot too. If he beats Siver, and beats, say, Donald Cerrone or Chris Horodecki (who I assume will be the next in line to fight Sot if he beats Siver,) then he gets his title shot...but as I said before, the title shot won't come for at least a year. Maynard/Edgar and Henderson/Pettis are scheduled in the next 60 days, after which I assume there will probably be a 5-6 month layoff for both winners to train and face off, after which I assume there will be a 5-6 month layoff after that before the unified champion fights again. I'm assuming there will now be lengthier periods between title fights since there will be 2 more divisions come January 1st. Depending on how the UFC/WEC merger fight goes, that could also be a rematch situation ala Penn/Edgar, so that would push the title shot further back too.
