I am really looking forward to this. Interested in seeing how Aldo looks, Johnson at 185, Palhares trying to rip off Mike Massenzio's leg...it's going to be awesome. The crowd at UFC 134 in Rio really added to my enjoyment of that card, and I am looking forward to seeing, and hearing another raucous crowd chanting “Oh! Vai morrer!” (“Oh, you’re gonna die!”) and the like.

Main Card (on Pay-Per-View):
-Jose Aldo (21-1; #1 Featherweight) vs. Chad Mendes (11-0; #2 Featherweight)
-Vitor Belfort (20-9; #8 Middleweight) vs. Anthony Johnson (10-3)
-Rousimar Palhares (13-3) vs. Mike Massenzio (13-5)
-Erick Silva (13-1) vs. Carlo Prater (29-10-1)
-Edson Barboza, Jr. (9-0) vs. Terry Etim (15-3)

Preliminary Bouts (on FX):
-Thiago Tavares (16-4-1) vs. Sam Stout (17-6-1)
-Gabriel Gonzaga (12-6) vs. Edinaldo Oliveira (13-0-1)
-Yuri Alcantara (26-3) vs. Michihiro Omigawa (13-10-1)
-Ricardo Funch (8-2) vs. Mike Pyle (21-8-1)

Preliminary Bout (on Facebook):
-Felipe Arantes (13-4) vs. Antonio Carvalho (13-4)

Here are the weigh-in results, with a question how in the hell does Anthony Johnson miss weight by 12 pounds? This guy is just a train wreck whether at welterweight, or middleweight.

UFC Featherweight Championship
Jose Aldo (145) vs. Chad Mendes (144)

Vitor Belfort (186) vs. Anthony Johnson (*197)
Rousimar Palhares (186) vs. Mike Massenzio (184)
Erick Silva (169) vs. Carlo Prater (170)
Edson Barboza (154) vs. Terry Etim (155)
Thiago Tavares (155) vs. Sam Stout (155)
Gabriel Gonzaga (250) vs. Edinaldo Oliveira (229)
Yuri Alcantara (145) vs. Michihiro Omigawa (146)
Mike Pyle (171) vs. Ricardo Funch (170)
Antonio Carvalho (144) vs. Felipe Arantes (145)

Rumble says he missed weight because he was feeling ill, and had to be injected full of fluids again.

I'll see if I can find you guys a link to the story later.

The UFC app on Xbox gave away I dont know how many free fights last nite ....I got the whole PPV for free with the UFC app

Knockout of the Year already, I think so. And the Main Event, wow. I remember when Jose Aldo knocked out Rolando Perez in the WEC and he ran out of the cage and to the top of the arena. Seeing him do that tonight was amazing. Instant mega star in Brazil, I grabbed one of the event posters from the bar I was at tonight because I wanted something to remember that scene. Palhares once again, is a freaking beast, give him a fight against a top 5 middleweight and see what happens. Who wouldn't want to see him in the cage with Bisping and see if he could take one of The Counts legs home with him?

Great card. Loved it.

tavares over Stout......only in Rio.......

Not quite. All of us watching here scored it 29-28 Tavares, but were thinking there would be a split decision by the judges. Stout clearly won the 3rd, and Tavares the first. The 2nd round was a bit up in the air, but I don't think Stout did enough work compared to Tavares to take the round.

I disagree with Bruce Buffer's decision not to reveal the judges' scorecards though.

A couple other scattered thoughts of mine:

-Antonio Carvalho's debut started exactly like I thought it would. Unfortunately, it didn't end how I thought it would. He's better than that and will be back to fight another day.

-The Rumble/Belfort fight had very poor officiating, and poor judgment calls by Dan Miragliotta to stand the fighters so quickly. Unfortunately, his performance will always be overshadowed by the fact that Rumble missed weight, and was subsequently cut.

-Palhares has such a ridiculous build for a middleweight. He's the division's answer to Gleison Tibau and Cheick Kongo.

-I expect the Erick Silva fight to be overturned to NC if an appeal is put in. I don't know that there are procedures in place for a referee to call a no contest on the floor (Mike? Would you happen to know?) which is why I'm not sure whether Yamasaki's only call was to award the fight to somebody. It sounded to me that within his explanation, Yamasaki was implying he had to award the fight to somebody.

-The Aldo/Mendes fight...again, I don't know why blatant cage grabbing is treated as an "Everybody gets one" situation. If it's not allowed, it's not allowed. A blatantly illegal knee results in a deduction of a point. Retaliatory groin shots result in point deductions. Aldo wasn't even pretending not to grab the cage in that situation.

This moment in time should result in a rule change similar to what happened in the fallout after Ludwig/Sudo. If a fighter blatantly grabs the cage to prevent a takedown like Aldo did, there should be a point deduction, followed by a restart of the fight in the position that the fighters would have found themselves in prior to the restart.

You can't make the argument that Aldo stuffed another takedown seconds later because they were two completely different types of takedown attempts. Aldo was clearly going down, and I think Mendes likely would have survived the round. I still don't think it would have changed the overall outcome, but that's besides the point.

No appeal needs to be put in. One of the great things about putting on a fight card in Brazil is that there is no Athletic Commision, so all the UFC has to do is decide it should be a no contest and they can make it happen, they better make it happen.

One of the better cards I have seen in along time. Some awesome showings. That heel kick by Barboza was insane. End of the Aldo fight was pretty good as well. Agree with chadsexington, Palhares build is friggin insane for middleweight.

– Anthony Johnson has been released from UFC following his failure to make weight for his UFC 142 fight Saturday night.

“This is his third time,” White said of Johnson’s failure to make weight. “Three strikes and you’re gone.”

Johnson missed weight for his fight with Vitor Belfort.

“That was one of the most unprofessional things I’ve ever seen,” White said. “The guy was at 170 pounds. He moved up to 185 pounds so this wouldn’t happen anymore, and this is the worst weightcutting disaster he’s ever had. He almost ruined the co-main event here in Brazil. I don’t know what else to say about that one. I’m not happy about it.”
